Updated to the #MarshmallowUpdate version 6.0.1. My Samsung Galaxy Note 4 phone's music is ALL stored on my SD card. With this update, every time I restart my phone, my ringtones & music playlist erases itself. Any good music apps that would keep the ringtones, notifications, & at the very least, my music playlist on it's internal memory, without having the music stored internally?

Straight talk verizon sim and switching phones
Well I started out with a Note 3 broke it got another Note 3 and now upgraded to the Note 4 all verizon models all using the same straight talk verizon sim.
Service works on the note 4 BUT am limited to 3G. After talking to a few techs they finally told me I need a new sim card. They don't allow switching phones and keeping a single sim.
They are sending a new sim free of charge so at least that's a good thing. Just that I would put this info out there in case anyone else does that same as me and think you can just move the sim card and be good to go.

Are Infinix phones any good?
tl;dr Are Infinix phones reliable?
I've been looking to upgrade my phone from the 2014 Moto G, and I was wondering if anyone has tried Infinix phones?
The have caught my attention considering their extremely low prices for relatively high specs (I'll list the specs below for those of you who haven't even heard of the brand). I am a bit reluctant towards buying a Chinese phone considering their reputation for being of low quality as well as the phone's small battery since MediaTek processors are power hungry.

With android phones, do I need to buy the latest device at the time of purchase?
I look at my friends at university with iphone 5s' they've had for >2 years and they work like they're brand new. Is that the case with android phones? I recently just bought a samsung galaxy s7 and then canceled the order because of my realisation that the price was ridiculous. What I am asking is that if I opted for the s6 now, will the lack of updates (as its older) reduce the life of the phone? Or does it not matter - a new s6 will last just as long as an s7?
2016 Rootable phones
I'm looking for advice on a phone to get to root. I'm new to rooting but I'd like to run xposed framework and learn more about it.
I've seen Motorola's website offering a way to unlock bootloaders for certain phones for developers. Would that be a good route to take? Does that allow me to easily root the phone?
Are there other, better options?
Thanks for all the help!

Google should move up the release of the Nexus phones
Don't you think google should move up the release of the nexus phones? What's the point of releasing them around october? It puts the phone in a weird position, millions have already bought the new iphone refresh, it has not so top of the line specs anymore, since a couple of months later we the galaxy , LG and htc phones released , not to mention the new qualcomm chips.
August should be a good time, the iphone is not out still and most of the android manufacurters have already released their flagships, what do you think?

[Q] Two phones randomly stopped booting (I337 and i545)
I'm asking here because I figure the issue is either device specific or bootloader specific (since both of mine have locked bootloaders). Both phones were/are rooted. Neither phone had any system changes before they stopped working. Both phones ran out of battery power then refused to boot afterward (pure black screen, no USB interaction).
Does anyone have an idea of what might be going on here? Both phones went down within one month of each other despite having had completely different usage patterns (one wasn't used at all for most of its life, the other was my primary phone).

Possible phone's status
Hello there,
I have been using my rooted Micromax Canvas Tab P690. .running Android 4.4.4 Kitkat . The problem started when i did choose to "Install/Update" Xposed Framework from the 'Xposed Installer' app, a dialog box runs out showing succefully installed and then asking to reboot. . i did reboot. .and my tab goes to bootloop with the logo screen coming and going. .then again the same. .it almost did occur for half and hour continuously and then it stops with the tablet powered off, dead . . Now after that event. . Pressing the power button won't switch on the tablet. .i tried charging the battery BUT THE CHARGE DID NOT TAKE. .WITH NO SIGNS OF GETTING CHARGED, the small red light was dead off. . what i did felt about the next time is that my tab becomes warm even with the charger UNPLUGGED.
The only thing that i want to know is WHAT POSSIBLY WOULD HAVE HAPPENED. . .and to me it comes as obvious what to be done to recover :( . .but at first knowing the problem takes priority
I'll be really glad if i get any help :(
Expecting some reply
Thanks

is it possible to install Windows phone's OS on to the Samsung Galaxy S3 GT-I9300?
I'm wondering if its possible to install Windows phone 8 on to my android which is fully rooted, I have played with custom ROM's on it before, I just wasn't sure if I'm able to install Windows phone 8 on to my android, or even where to get the ROM if I could, any help with this would be greatly appreciated as I am starting a new project for the Windows phone and don't have a test subject I can play with.
Thanks :)
Thanks :)
Prediction: surge of phones purchases based on battery life
With the release of Pokemon Go (and no, this isn't a PoGo thread), people are going to seriously consider battery life as a a major consideration to their phones. One report (http://mashable.com/2016/07/07/pokem.../#pnNwsOXQNkqJ) had the game burn through an Iphone 6s's battery in 3 hours playing "the game". That's from full to 0% in 3 hours. For comparison, Apple rates HD playback for this device is rated at 11 hours (http://www.apple.com/iphone-6s/specs/). This, along with my own observations of using my Nexus 6 with Google Cardboard at a family outing shows:
1. Applications like PoGo are going to cause a decreased lifespan in batteries that in as early as a few months, and will trigger an upswing in premature phone deaths just in time for Xmas 2016...
2. The capability of the phones are far surpassing the ability of the battery to keep up;
3. People are coming up with new ways to use the capabilities of phones, in ways they are not honestly designed for, and this will only get worse;
4. If the idea of a phone lasting two years is going to hold up (as many are purchased on a two year model), battery capacity needs to become a bigger focus than "make it thin".
Additionally, I suspect that battery death is one of the major drivers of new phone adoption. Yes, the ability to recharge a phone faster is great, but the more cycles you put on the phone, the faster the battery degrades. If you can't dribble charge your phone overnight and have a full day's use out of it on a HEAVY day, then the battery isn't correctly sized. More to the point, if a phone can't go for TWO days or more with normal use, it isn't a good choice. I personally believe that major phone manufacturers are designing their systems with the intention that the battery will become a factor triggering the replacement of phones at this point, which is why there are so few phones with replaceable batteries now. Applications like Pokemon Go will simply trigger people to realize just how imbalanced the battery vs. capability spread has become, and may start asking for something different.
Thoughts?

New to XDA,Rooting and almost anything related to the phones software
Hey guys. I have been using the Oneplus One wit CM13 and I just got handed an HTC 10 from my friend, and after using it I felt quite restricted software-wise as compared to the OPO. I do know what are the advantages of rooting (Getting full control of the phone for starters). But i dont have the slightest clue as to how to do it, what software tools and equipment I need and what may happen if I succeed or screw up :p :p . Long story short, I'm a true newbie at this and would like to learn a lot before messing around and bricking my phone or something. So i just wanted to ask where I should start off and i'll be on my way and keep reading.
Thanks in advance guys. :)

Is it possible to port apps made for arm to Intel x86 based phones?
You know, just like Pokemon GO, is here a way to do that? I really wonder because there are some apps like WiFi Killer doesn't work on Intel cpus.
Old samsung phones other operating systems?
I have a number of old samsung phones..s1 s2 s3 s4 note2 etc
Any one developing anything to make use of them?
Like make one into something like a raspberry pi like device?
Maybe install raspbian on it as the primary os
They are both arm7 right?
Servers for files, personal email/own cloud server.
Local Wi-Fi ftp, backup, sync system..
Anything like that..
I hate not making better use of them

How do I replace my phone's LCD screen and digitizer?
To add a bit of context, I dropped my phone into a dry sink while using it at faucet level. The height was around 4 inches and the LCD screen and digitizer broke. Not quite sure if the digitizer is broken but touch inputs are only received on certain regions of the screen (a statement on part quality?). The front glass panel is unscathed if that helps. So how would I go about disassembling and replacing an LCD display and digitizer on this phone? Also, where could I buy these parts?

US cellular Phones that are Xposed ready?
so I have had a galaxy s6 for a long while as well as a galaxy4 tab tonight I attempted to go through and root and install exposed on either and had nothing but issues it seems like us cellular models in specific do not get much support. Im hoping someone else uses US cellular as their carrier and could point me to a phone they offer that has less franchise modifications and they use both twrp and xposed framework/modules with.
any help is appreciated thanx in advance

Updated Google Play Services killing my phone(s)
I'm running stock AT&T 4.0.4 ROM, rooted with CWM. Google Play Services just updated to version 9.2.56 (034-124593566), and it's sucking my battery dry and making the phone run hot. I have a spare phone and brought it online, and the same thing happened as soon as Google Play Services updated. It is running anywhere from 50% to 80% of my battery when the screen is below 10%. Yep, it's using more than 10x what the screen requires. Battery that used to last 18 hours now lasts 2 to 3. Others have posted similar comments in the Play Store (like that's going to do any good). Common theme is it's older OSes.
I have tried disabling everything and it doesn't do any good. Too many things break if Google Play Services is removed. Going back to an old version is futile -- it self-updates within minutes. I tried GServiceFix and it works for few minutes, then the usage creeps up again.
I sent Google an email, but I expect nothing less than the run-around. So, I turn to XDA Developers.
First, is anyone else here still running stock, and did the same thing happen to you? How about on other ROMs (please specify)? Did you find a fix?
Assuming Google will do little to help, I need to do something to make my phone work right. So if there is a ROM where this is not a problem, I guess it's time to jump in. Problem is, some of the links in this forum are broken. I've found (or already had) most of what I think I need except a version or EFS Professional that works on our phone. I can find no working links to an older version that will do the job. I do have a Nandroid backup (also stored on my NAS), which I believe can restore the EFS, but I'd like to get just the EFS in case I need to load it to the system after flashing. None of the tools available in the Play Store seem to work on the Glide -- I end up with an empty backup directory.
My plan, assuming there is a Jellybean ROM without this issue, is to flash twrp-2.8.4-flashable.zip, since I understand TWRP is required for JB, then do another Nandroid backup with it, then flash whichever ROM is suggested to get over this. I've looked at Bubor's CM10.2, and it looks like it will fill my needs unless it also suffers this problem. If there is a reason I should update the Kernel, please let me know. I have not seen anything that makes me believe I need to.
Man, I wish one of the manufacturers would come out with a similarly sized new phone with a slide-out keyboard and AT&T compatible. I'd gladly upgrade, but there is nothing out there that meets my needs. Samsung S5 mini with slider -- I'm in.
