Mass rename of local photos in Google Photos

I need to organise my photos. The way my camera app works is that it just uses the next available number (e.g. photo0001 photo0002 photo0003, etc) and just remembers the next number to use.

The issue with this is when you go back and delete photos, it leaves a blank "slot" (e.g. photo0008 photo0010 photo0011 photo0015, photos 9, 12, 13, and 14 were deleted), and if you ever reset your phone, the camera forgets and starts over from 0001, sees that number is already taken, and uses the next available number.

This results in your photos being in the correct order if you go by date taken, but a complete mess up you go by filename. I plan to fix this by using a mass-renamer that will rename them in order of date taken.

Issue with that is, I have no idea how Google Photos will handle this. It's suddenly going to see thousands of photos that are different from the version stored online (because their filenames now are different) and bundled of new photos which didn't exist before because they are existing photos that had their filename changed to one that wasn't in use before.

Will Google Photos be able to tell by performing some sort of visual check or using some sort of hash/checksum? Or is it just going to turn my album into a mess? What would be the best way to deal with this? I could turn off photo syncing, delete everything saved online, then re-enable it after I rename them, but that would mean I would have to re-upload all my photos and videos, my 64gb card is almost full and I am upgrading to 128, that would be a LOT of data to re-upload.

Google Camera - "Cannot connect to camera."

Hey guys, I was testing out the Google Camera app (because I like to consider all of my options) when I noticed that trying to switch to video mode causes a "Camera Error: Cannot connect to camera." All other 3rd party camera apps I've tried have worked with video. Does anyone else know why this may be happening? I'm guessing because it's just not fully compatible with the G4 camera, but I'd love to use Google Camera as my daily use camera app.

Disabling Google App

Has anyone tried disabling the Google app (not Google play services). Do any issues arise?

Google auto is starting up constantly

Hi,

i have CM13 installed and now i'm going to update it with the nightly of 05 august 2016.
I don't know if there is a fix in it, but...
Google Auto is constantly turning on and i can't find anything in the system to turn it off.
(a green screen pops up with the text tap here to turn it off)
Searching google this issue is already out there for a while probably caused by magnetic fields and when Android 6 is on the device.
Looking at the fixes provided this seems not to be applicable for this Sii.

Does someone have a good fix for this, to turn this Google Auto thingy off for good?

Google Play Services GPS Crash

I'm running OCT-M 6.0.1. Every time google apps try to access location services, I get play services crashing. This does not happen with non-google apps such as waze or GPS Test.

I've tried reinstalling play services to the latest, reinstalled google maps, and cleared data for services and framework (backed up beforehand of course).

Does anyone know what could be causing this? I'm unsure where to find a crash log.

google play music pausing when screen turns off, and other issues

I'm using stock marshmellow from lg. google play music pauses the song when the screen turns off. usually between 30 seconds and 2 minutes after the screen turns off. I'm not exactly sure if it pauses the song or the audio just cuts off. I've added google play music to ignore battery optimizations and that didn't help.

another issue I'm having is after I reboot the phone, play music doesn't detect my songs. the sd card is mounted but there is no music in play music. sometimes remounting the sd card doesn't work and I have to reboot. also, after rebooting, my playlist is empty.

Google Chrome Customization

So i'm pretty sure someone has already made a thread on this however I have been unable to find it. What my question is if it is possible to change the color of chrome. For example when you visit dbrand.com on your phone chrome gets themed black. when you go to the xda website it gets themed orangeish. what i wanna know is if it is possible to change the color permanently. I want to make it black for good. So if anyone has an idea on how to do this or if there is an app for it let me know. Thanks again in advance!

Two damaged Google Nexus 4 to give away (to developers)

Google Keyboard Number Row

Google Keyboard provides a convenient number row but only when entering a password. Is there a way to enable this row all the time and not just when entering a password (and also without having to switch to English PC mode because it's very extreme)?

Problem with Google services connection

Hi,
my phone is:

• Redmi 3 Pro


• Android 5.1.1 LMY47V


• Miui Global stable 7.3.2.0.0 (LHPCNDD)

After two weeks of perfect usage, a problem with Google services connection appeared:
can't sync, can't enter gmail, Play Market, can't add new Google account, etc.
I've tried:

• deleting Play Market's cache - no results


• removing current Google account - no success, "doesn't permitted by administrator"


• add new Google account - no success, since there's no connection to Google services.


• reinstall Google services - no success, phone isn't rooted


• back to factory defaults - worked for another two weeks, but then the problem reappeared.

Two weird things:

1. once in a while, in a couple of days, connection reestablishes for a minute and a sync is done


2. after a restart of the phone, connection to Google is good, but disappears after 2-3 minutes.

Is there any things I can try to do before flashing a new ROM?

"Ok Google" from any screen

Does "Ok google" from any screen work at all for you guys. I was curious cause I just bought Moto G4 plus and what did I find in Google Voice settings section... Moto G4 Plus has the option to use "Ok Google" from any screen, where as Moto X^2 has only 1 option which is "from Google app".

I am really annoyed cause of this. [emoji17]

Cannot hide Google Search bar

Has anyone noticed recently that the Google Search bar is back if you've tried hiding it? Evidently one of the Google updates broke the fix that Xgels made to hide it. I've tried everything and cannot get it off my screens. Help! Any ideas? I've considered using another custom launcher but prefer not to. There used to be a 'Google Search' shown under Apps so that it could be turned off ,but that's gone, too. Apparently Google wants their annoying search bar at the very top of every frigging page. I want it gone, anyone with ideas?

I'm looking for a way to replace my stock dialer on 13b with Google own dialer and contacts app I've tried apkmirror for downloading them but they fail to install yes I made sure to try the one specifically for lollipop is their any way to do this?

Weather App that shows notifications and launches google now weather?

Hey so I've been a supporter of Amber Weather for a loooong time now. However as of late I've been on a minimizing spree, reducing space taken up by apps, processing, battery drain, etc. So i was wondering. Is there an app that gives you a persistent weather notification widget similarly to amber weather BUT launches Google Now's weather section similarly to how the icon would do it. Or is there no such thing?

I found one app called Weather Notification that i thought would let me choose what would happen when i clicked on the notification but soon found out that it only launched the Weather Notification app for configuration and the notification itself wasn't persistent as it could be swiped away and cleared.

So is there something out there like what i'm describing or am i doomed to always have amber weather for the notification and just launching google now's weather from it's shortcut?
