Damaged screen and touch panel

I have an LG G3 D851 and I recently dropped and cracked my screen and damaged the touch panel. The touch response is non-existent. I don't plan to repair it but I need to extract the contents of the built-in storage. I already removed my micro sd card and of course the contents are safe. Here's my problem: I don't have USB debugging enabled, as I haven't needed it. The USB connection when hooked to my computer is set to charge and not mtp or ptp. I can't change this therefore my computer doesn't recognize the phone as a mass storage device. I have tried a browser add-on called Vysor to no avail. I have downloaded the necessary ADB drivers for my PC, I have downloaded LG's drivers, I have even installed Android Studio and the SDK. I read that a USB OTG adapter would solve my issue but I don't really want to go that route unless I absolutely have to. What I am asking is if any of you kind people know of a possible alternative solution. Thank you in advance.

Two damaged Google Nexus 4 to give away (to developers)

I have two used and damaged Google Nexus 4 to give away – and I'd like to give them to a developer. In both cases the phone fell down, in one case the display broke (I already threw it away, the back case also), the other display has areas which won't work any more even if it's not broken.

If you are a developer and publish your code under a free software license I'll send you the phones and pay for shipping. Please just send me a private message.

I was tinkering with My Linux os (under the hood running underneath the kitkit gui) and I deleted some important files and now the phones not working even when I reflash it with stock firmware. Are there files in linux that do not get reflashed with stock firmware?

Recently Water Damaged, now booting - but microphone not working.

Recently my Nexus 6P got some water damage from a canoe trip (even though it was in a water "resistant" pelican case), and was not booting up. Took it to get repaired and the shop cleaned up the corrosion on the bottom of the phone where they said the water damage was. Phone booted up perfectly and everything was working great - wifi, gps, speakers, vibration motor, etc.

A few moments later my wife called me and I answered only to realize that she could not hear anything from my end. The microphone was not working. Took the phone back and they replaced the bottom PCB (daughterboard) of the phone which holds one of the main microphones.

No luck. Now I'm able to use my Nexus 6P for EVERYTHING except making phone calls, which kinda blows. I know I could use bluetooth etc. but that's not really a solution for me.

Does XDA community have any thoughts / ideas about what the problem could be and any possible solutions for me?

Thanks a ton guys!

Nathan

How to Fix a Water Damaged Phone

Drop your phone into a sink, pool, or toilet? Expose it to moisture? These can damage your phone. Don’t panic. You can fix a water-damaged phone without a penny. Follow the steps to proceed with a phone revival process.

1.Try a Different Battery
Phone has no response to a charger? Exposed to liquid, the phone will not power. In this case, you are advised to remove the battery and replace it with a working one of the same model so as to check whether there is a battery issue. You can borrow one from a friend or family member.

The most common issue that leads to non-working water-damaged phone should be charging and power issues. Once your phone is dropped into water or get wet, dry the phone especially the battery in no time.

2.Clean the Water-damaged Phone with Alcohol
Alcohol? Sounds interesting! Believe it or not, it works. If a phone is exposed to salt water, chlorine water, or just fresh water that may mix with chemicals, minerals, sediments, and corrosion. Drop your phone in 99% alcoholic liquid. Because alcohol is non conductive, it won’t cause a short. And it will get into everywhere of your phone to give a clean. Just sit back. After one hour, get the phone out of the liquid and let it dry. Then it should work.

Please note that you must check your phone LDI (Liquid Damage Indicator) Sticker before doing that. If the LDI Sticker of your water damaged phone is still white (warranty is still valid), and you put it into alcohol, the LDI will be activated. So we don’t recommend this method but trying to file a warranty claim. But if the sticker has been activated (warranty is void), you can try to fix it with this method first.

Now your phone has been fixed. Power the phone on and see if it works normally or not. Besides, check files in the device. Water damage can cause severe data loss. If you are unlucky to lose your files, hurry to recover data with a recovery program, FonePaw Android Data Recovery for example.
