Google account syncing options

Can someone explain please what does each thing mean?

I know most of the stuff, but "push subscription" or "CredidentialsContentProvider" are completely unknown to me.

Thanks!

Need help... out of options

Good day people of xda dev forum.

I've just retired from a 12 hour nonstop search to simply use xposed framework on my android 5.0.2 lollipop ( mobile: sm-g901F samsung galaxy s5 plus)

Now bear with me cause this was a really confusing ride.

It started with me wanting to use xposed itself ( obviously). I installed the installer and xposed modules. Then i saw framework couldn't load executable. So i searched around an apparantly it needed to be flashed manually for it to work properly. So i googled ALOT to understand the world of rooting and flashing mobiles ( i've never done either) and ended up using odin for the rooting with iroot and flashing a recovery called ttwrp. After many errors i finally got it to work and both were succesfully on my phone. So next i downloaded a package from the xposed framework downloads and it was the wrong one causing my phone to softbreak.

So i redone the entire firmware and did more research. Turned out i needed to know what sort of cpu i had ( turned out to be ARM) So i downloaded a arm sdk 21 package since thats what you need for android 5.0 and it soft broke again.

Redone the firmware, checked out why oh why it failed to work and then i found out i needed to deodex my stock rom since alot of changes occured causing xposed to be screwed up on a normal stock rom.

SO, after searching hundreds of outdated 2010-2012 threads with a few 2015 posts i found out about xultimate v2.4.2. did all the steps on there and i ended up with the error: next time don't disconnect the phone. No searches were succesful for that error so i moved on to other ways of deodexing. Short version of that: found 2 batch files automatically doing it for you and the only thing you had to do was find your system and firmware files on your phone ( using pc ) and paste it into the program so it knows where it's located.

And... i can't access those files on my pc using usb ( yes i debugged it and did everything you could find on the outdated forums of the web)

Used android commander, couldn't find the device cause it was offline for the program even though it was online if i went to check in adb's build platform CMD.

Tried another few things and short story: it didn't work.

Now im out of ideas, i've wasted a day of my weekend coming along all errors you could possibly have and now im lost, all i want to do is make xposed framework work on my mobile so i can make use of the xposed modules.

Can anyone please help me out, im really desperate and frustrated now, i can't think of anything more to do here ( ps: i also tried finding a already done deoxeded rom and no dice)

I am starting a new thread because I have tried all methods available and still I am unable to get my hotspot working.

I am unable to get the hotspot option in settings.

Here are the methods which I have tried but couldnt get it working.
Method 1:
Dialed ##DATA# and used my MSL to get into the options.
However, there is no option to change APN settings.

Method 2:
Used sql lite and dig into telephony.db.
Here also, I do not find option to edit APN.

Method 3:
Using GT, I have tried to enable Native hotspot but it didnt worked. Also, when I go into Wifi Hotspot settings, I can enable hotspot but other devices doesnt connect and stuck on "getting Ip address".

No "Enable OEM unlock" options in developer settings

Hey guys, I just tried to unlock my bootloader. I have obtained the unlock code and everything. I try to execute this command

Code:

fastboot oem unlock XXXX

, I always get stuck at

Code:

waiting for devices

1. I have updated my device drivers.
2. For some odd reason, the toggle for "Enable OEM unlock" is not present in the developer options.
3. Now, I have updated my KIW-L22 to B340 version recently. Maybe the toggle is removed in the recent update. Is there not any way to bring back that toggle so that I can unlock my bootloader?

Please guys, I need your help with this, if anyone has ever encountered this before, please tell me how to bring it back.

5.1.1 - double checking my options

I more or less understand the differences between versions and the install process, but I wanted to double check some things..

I just bought a Fire 7 2015 with 5.1.1 on it. I've used SuperTool to root and all its other functions. I want to install a custom ROM. There's detailed information about 5.0.x and 5.1.2+, but 5.1.1 seems like an odd duck.

- What is the difference between 5.1.1 and 5.1.2? Aside from the system, does it have a different bootloader and recovery?

- 5.1..1 doesn't allow modifying the bootloader or recovery, right? Not even temp booting TWRP? So, is the recovery same as 5.1.2?

- So without TWRP, I have to use FlashFire on 5.1.1?

- To revert back to stock FW, I can sideload 5.1.1, right? I don't have to sideload 5.1.2?

- Any comments on a ROM? I've used CM and AOSP before, but never Slim. There is varying information regarding which ROMS can be used on which Fire versions.

TIA.

How to turn on Dev Options in the New Blu R1 HD Fire Phone

To enable dev options:

Go to About Device all the way at the bottom of System.
Click on Build Number 5-10 times.

I haven't gotten to to connect yet to my computer. Wondering if I need a new adb.exe because of Android N.

Charging issue and available options

On a plane trip back from vacation my daughter had thrown up on me and it leaked into my pocket getting into the USB on my phone. I immediately turned it off and after the throwing up had dried I was able to get it all cleaned out. While the phone was off I used rubbing alcohol and a toothpick and cloth, and believe I got everything cleaned.

The phone now will no longer charge properly and is not recognized in Windows. Below is a video of how the phone will partially charge while turned off
https://youtu.be/vvHeqpRaV8o

The phone will not charge at all while turned on
I have tried different cables, using different plugs, and different adapters and they all do this same thing. I have tried installing new rom and recovery and it still does the same thing. Also tried a battery calibration app to remove the battery file with no success

Wondering what my options are this point. All help is appreciated

What options are almost as secure as "secure startup" (PIN on boot)? How close?

So I have a bootloader unlock, TWRP'd HTC 10 and I know that the Nexus 6P and many newer devices allow you to enable secure startup. When you set security to PIN, MM asks you if you want to require the PIN to boot the device. If you say yes, during boot the number keypad will be presented and you have 30 tries to enter the right PIN or it erases your device. Unfortunately, with this option enabled when I flash themes (tried different ROMs, different sources), it almost always hangs just before presenting this keypad with a message that says "Preparing Settings". The screen is normal with secure startup, but after a time it proceeds to the keypad. Anyway, I want to be secure so I've left it enabled and then I forget, flash a theme, and bang - phone is screwed up.

I believe that if I don't enable this then the data system is encrypted, and I know when I boot into TWRP it asks for a PIN to decrypt and mount data. If I encrypt my SD and store the TWRP backups there, (or password protect the backups) wouldn't that protect me from someone getting into one of those? At least the data partition? And any malcontent couldn't generate a new one including data to browse because they wouldn't be able to mount data in the first place without the PIN, right? If all this is true then I'm not sure what they could get with just the system partition (and boot and recovery of course)...

Can anyone shed light onto whether secure startup is really buying me anything with these other precautions in place, and if you think secure startup is worth it? Thanks!

Please can someone confirm this bug.

Accessibility Options when enabled don't stick once you close the window.

For example Tasker and lastpass.

[Q] NFC Stopped Working - Fix Options?

Anyone have their NFC stop working between flashing ROMs? I was flashing ROMs over the weekend and now my NFC won't turn on, even after doing a factory-image install (flash-all.bat from factory images).

It almost seems like a hardware failure or lock-out of somekind.

Factory reset / backing up options for a complete restore

Hi Guys,
Without root, what is the best way to back up my Note5 to do a complete restore?

I don't find android very clever at resets and restores (its weakest point) as half the apps don't get reinstalled automatically and the settings all need re-entering manually. I've tried helium but it doesn't do a complete job of it. I also back up Nova (using its own back up). Battery isn't great at the moment so want to start with a reset.
Any other good suggestions for checking whats sucking apps? I use GSAM at the moment...

thanks

Sound control options missing in 6.0.1

Hello all,

I recently installed 6.0.1 marshmallow on my Z3 tablet compact, but the volume on notifications, system, and call ringer seem to be tied into each other. That means that there's no separate control for those 3 functions.

Anyone know how to change this? Or maybe even an app that can help with this? I'd be very grateful. Many thanks.
