Restore Download mode from Fastboot

Hi,
I have a d415 that i booted into fastboot mode with and wanted to unlock bootloader with. I then found out that it was already unlocked. Now i would like to restore download incase i screw anything up. I have the laf.img. Where do i go from there? None of the commands i type in fastboot mode work, possibly because i didn't correctly install the fastboot and adb drivers. If that is the problem, can someone give me clear instructions on how to download them, thanks. Instead, i used the basic adb and fastboot files from a different thread from android sdk. Adb doesn't even work anymore for me now. Please help
Thanks a ton in advance!

**backup ta - restore not working on windows 10 {solved}

UNFORTUNATELY I unlocked my z3's bootloader on windows 10, (as I have only this pc available), till I took a backup my TA partition, all the things were going well.. it took the backup as it usually does.
after that when I tried to restore my backup of TA partition, the BackupTA ended on an error..
I tried many things but nothing worked.. the only way remained to change my whole OS from windows 10 to windows 7. (as i finally concluded that BackupTA is no more fully compatible with windows 10).
I tried some tricks and finally did it with some googling.

steps i took:
1. installed VM Box
2. Installed VM box extention pack (needed to connect usb 2.0 devices, i.e my z3 to that virtual machine)
3. Installed whole windows 7 using a dvd to that virtual machine. ( youtube it.. it is easy )
4. Copied the BackupTA whole folder (including backups) and Flashtool drivers to a pen drive.
5. Connect the pen drive to my pc and then connect it with virtual machine ( you have to select within virtual machine- devices>usb>*pen drive name* )

6. Installed flashtool drivers. (selected fastboot, flashmode & xperia z3 drivers only)
7. Connected my z3 to virtual machine. ( you have to select within virtual machine- devices>usb>xperia z3 or d6653 )
8. Run BackupTA.bat and followed the instructions to restore backup.
10. :highfive: And restore was complete.

hope will be helpful for all windows 10 users.. who do want to restore their TA backup at 4.00 AM :silly::cool:

How To Restore Everything Using Fastboot?

Hi.

I got into problem after flashing the Beta 7.0. I need to restore my phone using fastboot since the eRecovery that I got gave me only 3 options: update, reboot, shutdown.

I have tried flashing the system.img, boot.img and recovery (both stock and TWRP). During flashing everything looked OK without any error but I still get this when booted:

"Your device has been unlocked and cant be trusted - your device is booting now..." and it just stucked there.

Any way to fully restore OS?

I am used to installing a custom recovery, wiping the whole phone, and installing the ROM i want, and then being happy.

I got my v10 used and I did a factory reset after turning it on, but is there no way to plug it in to your computer and have the lastest update from LG written to it?

Android 6.0.1 came out 18 days ago and it's hard to know how long it will be until VZW pushes it OTA.

Restore messages

Hi I've got a s6 edge running android 6.01 on the rogers network in ottawa canada. My question is I've been using the default messaging app the one with the yellow icon and want to start using whatsapp. Is there any way to transfer my text messages from the message app to whatsapp so I can disable the stock messaging app. I've done some googling with no success.

DRM restore etc

Hi all,

So ive been holding off modding my phone as the thought of DRM key emulation etc makes me uneasy... Is there a safe repeatable way for me to backup my DRM keys, so that I may restore them at a later date if I sell my phone or return it for repair?

After many months of lurking, I have still yet to find any concrete answer to this

Kind regards

I tried to downgrade from 6.0.1 to 5.1.1 but my phone never booted up. I'm trying to return to 6.0.1 but I receive the error: "SW REV. Check Fail. Device: 4, Binary: 3" and this is the log for ODIN:

I'm using the restore files from the following post: http://forum.xda-developers.com/att-...store-t3408875

What is going on with my phone? If I check just the AP option then the phone never ends up booting but if I check BL, AP, CP, and CSC then I receive the above error. The ODIN version is 3.10.7

TWRP restore does not work

I've used TWRP to create backups of ROMs on my onyx device. However, every time after restoring a backup; upon boot into the ROM it stays at the loading screen. I've found ways to get around this by installing the specific ROM I was using and just restoring /data . However, this doesnt work properly as some apps are broken.

Nonetheless, has this happened to anyone else? Did you fix it? How can I fix?

Restore from Titanium Backup extremely slow

I just installed the new version of a ported S5 rom Uncarrier V2 and I'm trying to restore all of my apps with TB. I've never had an issue restoring them before until now. TB just sits at 0 percent when restoring in bath mode. Same thing if I try an app by itself. Smaller sized apps have been able to restore with no Issue, larger apps I have issues with. If anyone knows a workaround that would be great.

Stuck in Odin mode after trying to restore a custom ROM in TWRP

Hi everyone,

Well here is my problem. For the past few weeks I've been testing custom rom for my Chinese SM-N9006. I have successfully flashed Resurrection Remix and Darklord full N5 UX N920SKSU2ZPFB.

Then I wanted to try other roms, even though they weren't supported specifically for my device...Just out of curiosity to see if it would work.

I successfully installed Purify CM13 for Hlte / T-Mo / Can -- v4.1 and Temasek's UNOFFICIAL Build v9.3. I was able to make those rom work, I could surf the internet, make/receive phone calls, send/receive sms.

The only thing that didn't work throughout both roms was that my sd card was detected but "stopped working" and when I entered the storage section of the settings, in the Temasek it was a white screen and in the Purify rom the settings app crashed. I could not backup anything with TB since the folder was on the ext sd card so I booted into twrp and try to restore the previous rom I was using, the Darklord one. That's when it happened: everything went as usual but after hitting reboot my phone went into downloading mode. On it it said:

Could not do normal boot.
ODIN MODE
PRODUCT NAME: SM-N9006
CURRENT BINARY: Custom
SYSTEM STATUS: Custom
REACTIVATION LOCK: OFF
KNOX WARRANTY VOID: 0x1 (4)
QUALCOMM SECUREBOOT: ENABLE (CSB)
RP SWREY: S2, T2, R2, A3, P2
SECURE DOWNLOAD: ENABLE
UDC START

Downloading... Do not turn off target!!

I want to add that I can restore my Resurrection Remix backup in twrp.

Why should I do next? Is my Darklord backup corrupted? Should I reflash Darklord rom? Can I save this backup or is it useless now?

Thanks for you help.

Restore a deleted partition

Hiya! I don't believe my problem is device specific. The background of how I ended up in this crappy situation is, but I believe the resulting issue is general. Should I be wrong, tell me and I'll move this to my device's section.

Short question: how can I (and can I?) restore data in a partition that got deleted, if no new filesystem has been created over it?

Long background: I have a Xiaomi Mi2-S 32GB. It used to have a peculiar layout: a double system partition (/system1 and /system2)¹, a small internal storage (/userdata)², and a big emulated SD card (/storage)³.

Let's explain why:
¹ False dual boot: the active system is installed in the first partition. When installing an update with the official app, the newer system gets installed in the second and that one gets booted. So, should this newer system fail to boot, you have an older one correctly working and ready to boot.
² and ³: so that the whole storage partition containing photos, music, videos, downloads, backups, saved games and such can be accessed with MTP, while the userdata containing apps and complementary system things is kept safe. This last decision, however, brings up a new problem: userdata can't be accessed by user to put his files or by apps without root permissions to store data (like photos), while storage can't be used to install apps, or even to move them using Link2SD or such. Some users might find storage is insufficient for their videos and music, while others might find userdata is too little for their games, and they are both stuck in this situation.

I was in the second group, so I altered my layout using stillka's guide on xiaomi.eu (Sorry, I can't post links). I extended my userdata, so that my storage resulted smaller. Plus, I understood altering a partition would mean deleting all the partitions before that one, and recreating them thereafter.

Until this point, all was OK. I installed Ivan's AOSP Lollipop for unmerged partitions, and found out it would experience random reboots with True Dual Boot. So I stuck with False one and forgot about everything. I kept that version without updating for a long time.
Then, several months later, my phone started rebooting randomly anyway. I figured I would come back to MIUI to get Xiaomi's support for an official ROM.
Little did I know they decided to change layout in the meantime. MIUI got so big the size of the two systems was insufficient. So they decided to merge them into an unique partition big enough. So, while flashing with the official tool MiFlash, it practically altered my system layout, having to delete all that was placed before them (cache, userdata and storage), never telling me what it was going to do, advising me to back my storage up somewhere. All I did was back up my userdata into storage, confident flashing their official ROM with their official tool would just write into system, since nobody told me otherwise.

So this is the result: the old, small size of userdata is back, and everything that comes after is left without any filesystem: these are the last line in parted's print output

Quote:

20 327MB 336MB 8389kB ext4 persist
21 336MB 1409MB 1074MB ext4 system
22 1409MB 1812MB 403MB ext4 cache
23 1812MB 5570MB 3758MB ext4 userdata
24 5570MB 31.3GB 25.7GB storage

I've tried parted's rescue command, but it is unable to find a partition lying there. I don't have my old layout, so I'm not able to precisely know where my old storage began, but I remember it to be around 18 GiB in size. I've tried all ranges possible (from the current end of userdata, 18 G from the end and so on) but no dice.
Can someone tell me if there is any hope, and what can I try?

Restore point not working - incompatible software versions - downgrade?

I was to turn in my phone (Sony Xperia Z1 compact) for a warranty issue (battery acting up). The guy in the store told me there would be a factory reset at the service point so I went home, used the built in Sony approved "Backup & Restore" app (with current experience - DO NOT USE IT!!!). To be safe I created 3 different restore points (just in case) and stored to my SD card. I backed up everything, contact list, messages, photos etc using the sony app. To be extra safe I did install the google + app to backup my contact list (wich of course also failed, it only backup up 6 of my ~500 contacts, don´t ask me why).

Got the phone back today. Battery replaced (nice!). Software upgraded - Didn´t ask for that but lets see. Went home. Popped in my SD card with my restore points, selected to restore and got the message: "Cannot restore - Selected backup records cannot be used du to incompatible software versions. Please select a more recent backup file". After searching the internet and spending an hour chatting with the sony support it seems I´m pretty much screwed. That (useless) app appears to ONLY be working if used on the exact same phone model with the exact same OS version.

The guy at Sony tells me that the only way to handle this is to unlock the boot loader wich will void my warranty. I asked if it was possible to just pull the contacts and messages from the backup file but no, according to him that app stores the backup up stuff in a non-typical way wich is impossible to reach unless you have the correct version on the phone.

It seems like there are a lot of smartheads in this forum, does anyone have an idea on how to either pull the vital data from the backup or any other idea? The boot loader unlock option is not very tempting since it will void my warranty, not give me automatic updates in the future and on top of that there is a risk I´ll screw up my phone for good.

As a last comment, it would have been nice if the App informed you about the fact that it would only work on the same OS-version, that would for sure have made me think twice and made at least one backup using another system but no. I found threads about this as early as december 2013, still users will continue to loose all their data. A simple popup with that information would save a lot of people a lot of headache.
