Lg l90 startup problem after trying to switch from KingRoot to SuperSU

Hi xda,
i currently have an lg g 90 (pretty old model) that is rooted with either kingroot or super su, im not sure. I originally had kingroot but used super su me to try to switch to super su. It said it was completed but kingroot was still there. I then restarted my device and it got stuck on the load up screen with the t-mobile logo. I tried restarting it many times. I then found a tutorial to factory reset my phone but now in the setup, it wont let me go past wifi. It wont even let me type in a password. I'll click next and it will take me to a blank page and back to the wifi setup. Also once this problem is resolved, would it be able to install twerp and cm13 on it? Thank You!

What options are almost as secure as "secure startup" (PIN on boot)? How close?

So I have a bootloader unlock, TWRP'd HTC 10 and I know that the Nexus 6P and many newer devices allow you to enable secure startup. When you set security to PIN, MM asks you if you want to require the PIN to boot the device. If you say yes, during boot the number keypad will be presented and you have 30 tries to enter the right PIN or it erases your device. Unfortunately, with this option enabled when I flash themes (tried different ROMs, different sources), it almost always hangs just before presenting this keypad with a message that says "Preparing Settings". The screen is normal with secure startup, but after a time it proceeds to the keypad. Anyway, I want to be secure so I've left it enabled and then I forget, flash a theme, and bang - phone is screwed up.

I believe that if I don't enable this then the data system is encrypted, and I know when I boot into TWRP it asks for a PIN to decrypt and mount data. If I encrypt my SD and store the TWRP backups there, (or password protect the backups) wouldn't that protect me from someone getting into one of those? At least the data partition? And any malcontent couldn't generate a new one including data to browse because they wouldn't be able to mount data in the first place without the PIN, right? If all this is true then I'm not sure what they could get with just the system partition (and boot and recovery of course)...

Can anyone shed light onto whether secure startup is really buying me anything with these other precautions in place, and if you think secure startup is worth it? Thanks!

Auxiliary Batter + Battery Isolator = No Radio Startup Delay!

Hello folks! I wanted to explain the solution I came up with to the problem of the very lengthy startups on my android car radio.

Your typical car radio is wired like you see below:

Wiring 1

With a OEM radio, your startup is just a few seconds for a modern Linux- or android-based car radio. Even some aftermarket radios like the mainline AVH Pioneer series are up and running in seconds.

Not so much with our favorite android aftermarket car radios. Boot up times are something on the order of 20 to 30 seconds. This isn’t too bad in and of itself, but if you’re the sort of individual that likes to “get up and go” the starts getting very annoying after a while. If you’re refilling your car then start up the motor when finished, that cuts the power to the radio and you witness another 30 seconds before everything is up and running, and that’s before the stereo does its media scan and the audio apps get loaded into the RAM. So you’re almost a minute on your drive before the tunes start.

A straightforward solution is what you see below:

Wiring 2

I’ve wired the ignition trigger line directly onto the positive. This keeps the radio on at all times. This eliminates the annoying boot up delay, however we run the risk of draining the car battery this way. I have seen discussions on this forum where standby power consumption for aftermarket android head units runs somewhere on the order of 25 mA, all the way up to 300 mA or more. I have not tested this out although it would make for an interesting study. The point is this is a potential problem if you plan to leave your vehicle parked somewhere for an extended period of time. You don’t want your car in the long term parking lot at the airport to have a dead battery when you arrive back late at night from your trip, because the android radio was running off your car battery for the days or weeks you were gone.

If you wish to eliminate the lengthy android boot up time and also save your car battery, allow me to propose the following solution:

Wiring 3

In this example, I have purchased a battery isolator and a very small auxiliary battery just the power the car radio. This involves the addition of some extra electronics in your trunk, and some extra 4-conductor wiring from this new battery and battery isolator up to the car radio. If you know what you are doing you can do this all in one afternoon, which was my experience.

You’ll need a few things in order to get this project rolling:

A 12V 18-amp-hour battery that is typically used in an uninterruptible power supply. :
https://www.amazon.com/ExpertPower-E...dp/B00A82A3RK/

Battery isolator:
https://www.amazon.com/NOCO-IGD140HP...dp/B001DKRF2M/
or http://www.westmountainradio.com/pro...cts_id=iso_pwr
(There’s plenty of different choices here. Look around and see what you like. I chose the IsoPwr unit because it is solid-state diode-based and has no mechanical relay inside it.)

Four-conductor wire:
https://www.amazon.com/16AWG-4-Condu...dp/B0193RRUBM/

Butt splices, and splicing tool.

Fish tape, for running the wire underneath the carpet in the car.

Toolset for removing the seats, center console, removing the radio, etc.

A stiff drink for when the trolls show up. (Just kidding! :D )

I also purchased a pair of trailer wire extension cables, which are four conductor wires with plugs.
https://www.amazon.com/Hopkins-48145...dp/B0002RNSNM/
This works well for keeping the wiring in place in case I need to remove the battery or the radio.

Isolator 1

Isolator 2

Isolator 3

As you can see in the pictures, I fabricated a wooden stand to retain everything, and I had a plastic battery box laying around from an earlier car stereo installation.

More or less done!

The procedure is simple, you place the battery and isolator in the trunk and run the wire up to the car radio. You cut the power leads on your aftermarket car wire radio harness, and splicing your four conductor wire. This wire runs all the way and hooks up to your isolator in the trunk, which in turn is connected to the auxiliary battery.

At the radio

Also, an important point: LABEL YOUR WIRES!

Label your Wires!

You really don't want to mis-wire anything and screw up your car.

An optional switch on the positive line running to the radio prevents discharge of the auxiliary battery, in case you’re parked for an exceptionally long amount of time.

If it seems like a lot of running around to get around a technical limitation on the part of the radio manufacturers, it really is. This was an experimental project on my part to expand my technical prowess in to give me the android car audio experience I desired minus the tire some waiting for the radio to boot up every time I got in the vehicle.

I’ve been running this for a few days now and the result is excellent. I can restart the car after filling up at the gas station, and now there is little delay other than the OS scanning the USB and MicroSD drives. And the radio works almost from the start first thing in the morning, before I even pull out of the driveway.
If you know what you are doing it can’t be beat.

Any questions?

Phone startup time Lollipop vs. MM

Hi,

Seems that phone starts much longer with MM.
Have you noticed that?
Lollipop booted almost instantly compared to MM. Am I the only one?

Thanks!

Cant get Pokémon Go to run, crashes on startup

Dear Forum,

I was wondering if someone could help me, i have a HTC one M8 and i am trying to get pokemon go to work to no avail, so far i have tried:

clearing cache and data and reinstalling multiple times
turning off developer options
uninstalling xposed framework
doing a clean install of resurrection remix
dual booting an aosp rom
running rootcloak
expanding my ram (using Roehsoft Ram Expander),

the problem is when i try to launch pogo after doing an install from the apk i got from the frontpage of apkpure it asks me to give 4 permissions then immediately crashes. every try after that just crashes from the outset.

Any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks in advance.

Could i have some help regarding a startup loop on my cyanogenmod (11) Acer A700?

Hello! I am new here :D I was wondering if any of you could be kind enough to assist me, on what seems to be, a very weird problem that happened to me today  . So, as i booted up my tablet i noticed that the Cyanogenmod bootup animation (the one with the mascots head turning mad; and an arrow moving around it) would freeze after 5 seconds and then cause my tablet to reboot. This created an infinite loop. It went on for more than 15 minutes. I had to force stop it (by holding the power key down for 9 seconds or so). The thing is that i received this tablet as a gift from our family friends in germany, and well.. it was used. I was not aware on what cyanogenmod was until slighty recently. I would like to hear any opinions on the problem. I could probably provide some video footage of the whole thing. If you think that it would help you, please notify me :) ! I earnestly thank you for taking the time to consider my problem :D !
I had made a previous forum on Jira. here is the link: jira dot cyanogenmod dot org/browse/CYAN-7848

HTC M8 One stuck on startup screen.

I had problem with my HTC M8 One not being to update Android. It downloaded Android (~1.16GB) and after I tried to install it a Red Triangle with an exclamation mark appeared. After I restarted the phone the same "popup" appears telling me that there is an available System Update. I tried to update my phone several times but the same problems appeared.

Alright I thought, let's be one of the cool guy and flash my phone.

First I unlocked my bootloader following the instructions from htcdev.com. (It says "unlocked")

After that I followed the instructions on this site: wccftech.com/ how-to-update-htc-one-m8-to-android-6-custom-rom/ and now I can't get past the startup-screen. It also has a message in red saying "This build is for development purpose only ..." after following the step "fastboot reboot".

Right now nothing really seems to work and I'm not sure how to be able to proceed.

Any help is highly appreciated!

Best regards,
Tomas
