Updating To New Baseband and Modem...

I cannot seem to find a guide to updating to the new PE baseband & bootloader. The guides are so fragmented and basically say "Here are the downloads, look for guides about Odin elsewhere...."

Anyone got a link to a guide that tells all, from start to finish? Download this, download this version of Odin, extract these files from this file, put this file in this section of Odin, this file in that. Hit this button, wait until this happens...?

I know it's simple for some but for me, I've destroyed two phones with Odin and don't want to do another....

Can't tether since updating to Marshmallow...

As the title says.

I recently updated my phone (Z3 Compact D5803) to Marshmallow (6.0.1) and since then I've been unable to tether. I constantly get "Error occurred during tethering" and if I do connect a device to my phone, said device does not have internet access.

I've done this: http://www.lukecjdavis.com/fix-inter...droid-devices/ and this works for about a day but I always have to do it again.

My MNO is Three Ireland, if that matters, but I don't think it does because my sim card let's me tether in other phones, just not my Z3C...

Does anyone know a way I can fix tethering on my phone?

Thanks.

Phone won't boot after updating SuperSU

I need help immediately cause I am paniking. So I rooted my phone using the KingRoot application, and after the root was succesful used SuperSu-Me to remove KingRoot. SuperSu-Me installed SuperSU on my device which in turn had to install an update, so I let it do its thing. After the update was installed SuperSU prompted me to reboot my phone so i did. Problem is the phone has been stuck for about half an hour in the shifting shapes screen, fastboot doesn't work. I have tried hard reseting it but the problem persists.

CM13 not updating

Does CM13 update for anyone? Worked perfectly fine back on cm12.

Phone restarts and nothing happens, I have to do it manually via adb or recovery each time...

Radio not working after updating to 3.38.502.12

I just updated my firmware to the newest one last night, so I could update ViperOne to 4.3. Since applying the update my Radio no longer works,, phone boots just fine, but I can't make any connection. Check phone Into and its not picking up my IMEI or by Phone number. Possibly just not reading my SIM? It was all working fine before I updated.

Phone is SOFF with latest TWRP installed.

Note 5 stuck in loop while updating firmware at %24

Hi All,

Sorry if this is asked before. I have a new Note 5 unlocked. I turned it on yesterday and started using it. Late at night, its screen froze. I tried pressing Power+Volume_Down buttons to restart the phone. The phone restarted but the the screen was black. Only the notification light was on (blue).

In the morning, the light was still on and the phone was froze. I tried restarting it and I succeeded it. Then I realized the phone was very, I mean veeeery slow. By the time, a firmware update notification popped up. I believe it was Marsmallow update. I hit the yes button. The phone started the update and was stuck at %24. Then it restarted itself. The update process starts over and when it reaches %24, it starts over.

This happened before with my note 4 when I tried to root it. This phone is brand new and is not rooted. However, I transferred my Google profile but I did not select to download my previous apps. So, I don't think it is rooting issue but stucking at the same percentage makes me nervous.

I tried to get into recovery mode but the button combination does not work at all. So I can neither factory reset nor clear the cahe partition. When I press Volume_Down+Home+Power buttons, a custom rom download screen appears but Volume_Up+Home+Power buttons do not work at all. I cannot shut off the phone. It constantly restarts itself, starts the update, fails at %24 and starts the process over again.

What might be the problem? How can I fix this?

Regards

Does updating Custom ROM require a factory reset ?

Hi I currently use the custom ROM Renovate 2.1, and want to update to 3.0, which was just released on 22nd July.

So if I just want to update a custom ROM, do I still have to backup all apps with Titanium Backup, and do a factory reset with TWRP before flashing the updated custom ROM? Or can I skip these steps?

Help updating from Marshmallow to Nougat

Hello all,

For the last 4-5 firmware updates I've had no issue using fastboot to flash the firmware images, then flashing SuperSU, ElementalX kernel, Viper4Android and AdAway host lists through recovery to update to the latest build but keep my root mods.

I would like to now to the same with DP5 (or, at the very least, the first official Nougat build when it drops soon) and make sure I do it safely without any bricking.

Here's the current status -

Bootloader: Unlocked
Build: Android 6.0.1 MTC19Z, July Security Patch
Root Status: Rooted
Root Mods: ElementalX Kernel, Viper4Android, AdAway

Essentially, I want the same set up/root mods as above, only on 7.0. My questions are as follows:

1. Does the process differ at all for both installation of the firmware (through fastboot) or root method (flash TWRP, flash SuperSU)?

2. Is a full data wipe required? Recommended?

3. Anything else I should know?

Thanks in advance for the help. I'd love to make this as painless as the monthly firmware updates without any hiccups.

- Moonboots

I messed up with flashing. OP3 not updating

Hi guys, let me be clear, I really messed up and I'm freaking out. I'm a flashing noob and I really shouldn't have tried doing this.

I tried to follow a guide on how to unlock the bootloader, flash TWRP, root and flash a custom ROM, everything was fine up until the rooting part. I figured I'd stay on stock ROM, so I flashed the full zip of what was the latest stock ROM then (3.1.3) and left it at that.

I've since tried to update to 3.2.0 and 3.2.1, and it's been a nightmare. TWRP wouldn't install the incremental update zips so I flashed back to stock recovery and tried it with that, didn't work. I've tried ADB sideloading the incremental update but it stays at 48% and then fails. I don't know if I can RMA the device, so I'm reaching out to you guys for help here. I want to flash back to 100% stock so I can just update as normal.

Google Widgets not updating

Hi :)

Since the B820 Update on my L04 my Google Widgets (calendar and notes) are not updating. The Google calendar doesn't even show the events and the notes app only shows changes when I change its size. Other calendar widgets work without problems (and every other widget)
Did any Google background service get messed up when I updated? I prefer not to reset the phone :/

Thanks in advance,
Julian

Updating Galaxy S4 from 4.4.2 to 4.4.4+

I'm contemplating purchasing a new phone. I found a refurbished S4 for and want to buy it, but I need at least 4.4.4 so I can play Pokemon GO. Does anyone know if it can get to 4.4.4 or higher? Also, if so, does it require rooting?

I also read that it's up to the cell phone carriers to allow a higher firmware, so if it's a case of the carrier, does Net10 allow you to get to 4.4.4 or higher?

While updating a new binary everything was wiped!

So, i have root for about 2 months. Everything went fine until i got a notification that the Su binary had to be updated. So i pressed the button ton update it the normal way. After that my phone went into a boot loop. I searched up hundreds of post to see how to get out of a boot loop. But nothing worked. But when i was in the boot loop i connected my phone to my PC and copied everything to it. Then i got some hope. After my phone started with the official firmware, my phone downloaded all the apps by itself. But it didn't put my contacts back. So after that i realized that i had a NANdroid back-up. I was happy again. But unfortunately after i restored it, my pone went back in a boot loop and got stuck.:crying:. After i installed the firmware AGAIN all my apps and basically how it was before everything changed, came back. I was happier than ever before. I went to bed with a nice feeling. Than i woke up and got the message again about updating the Su binary. So now i thought nothing would happen. And this time i updated it with TWRP. But again i failed and got stuck again. I installed the firmware again for the 3rd time. After it started, i looked if i still had a NANdroid backup. And i actually had. So i restored and my phone got stuck again. So i installed the firmware again, hoping it would put everything back like the previous time. But it didn't. I searched up how to get your contacts back. My contacts weren't in my Gmail account. The Android Data Recovery program did nothing but ****. I couldn't import my contacts. Because somehow there weren't any. My last hope was my whole back-up of my phone. It took approximately 5 hours to restore. But even that didn't put my contacts back. I lost my hope. But then i saw that i had backed up my contacts with Titanium Backup. And i restored them and restarted my phone. It only restored some contacts and Skype names i didn't care about. Then my hope was officially lost. I didn't know what to do. I rooted my phone for only one reason and that was to get IOS emojis. And i even got them. I never knew that this Su binary update would totally F*UCK up my phone. Well thanks for that. And if somebody still has a clue, let me know. Because my contacts were me number 1 priority.
