Given the age of this phone, I simply wanted to ask a question on the last, best ROM that brings this phone to the most recent Android version, and provides security fixes? The newest ROM I can find is the Carbon ROM: http://forum.xda-developers.com/myto...-2015-t3077527 based on 4.4.4, and is newer than the Virtuous ROM I have been using on this phone (4.0.3), as I believe that one of the most recent ROMS that supported TMobile wifi calling (although I'm now on Google FI). I don't use this phone as a daily driver, but I do try to keep it updated, and available as a spare.

What is the most stable rom for kenzo?
Hi, I'm new with the redmi note 3 pro (kenzo) and I don't know what rom to flash on it.
What's the rom that has the best balance between battery and stability? Should I stick with the official stable rom or should I use xiaomi.eu or maybe CM13/RR, and should I install any particular kernel or use the included ones? Thanks a lot for the support! :D

Most stable Lollipop or MM ROM for 8.4?
I currently have both a Nexus 7 (2013) running official MM and a Nook HD running unofficial CM13. The last stable release for the Nook was CM11 and official CM development has stopped. That hardware is almost past its useful life. The Nexus is fine but I would really like a slightly larger screen and an SD card slot so I am looking at used Tab Pro and Tab S 8.4" models. I'm not a fan of Touchwiz so I want something that I can flash Lollipop or MM onto. I know there's a stable release of 12.1 for the Pro but only nightlies for 13 on either model (and no stable CM at all for the Tab S.) So my question is, are any of the current CM releases (or other ROMs) good enough to be a "daily driver?" My experience on the Nook was that stable releases were indeed pretty stable and nightlies were hit or miss. Can I assume the same for the Galaxy Tabs?
FWIW, I use the tablet mainly for FB, Chrome browsing, reading NYTimes and as a book reader (using the Kindle app or FB Reader.)
Thanks in advance for your opinions.

[Q&A] Most stable ROM?
Greetings,
My Galaxy S2 Plus is just getting too old, I think, some of applications are not compatible with my stock 4.2.2 and its really slow. I'm just wondering, which ROM should I choose? I have a friend who is an expert in this topic but he said that he don't have time to check which one is the best ROM for this phone (he will install it).
So, if I'm just a regular user, who needs a stable and reliable phone, which ROM would you recommend? I'm using Facebook, Messenger, Instagram, Gmail, Youtube, Camera, Camscanner and GMaps only.
Thanks in advance.

Most apps crashing
Hello,
I naiively purchased a 6p off ebay on the cheap that was having issues with apps crashing, thinking I could fix it, but lesson learned, I'm not as smart as I think.
Chrome crashes immediately upon opening - most apps that load web content are extremely unstable/eventually start crashing upon opening (reddit apps, instagram, facebook, email apps). Most forums are pointing to Android Web Services as the culprit, but uninstalling updates/clearing data/etc. hasn't helped.
I've tried multiple factory resets, I tried the N beta (which was much, much more stable than stock MM), and I'm currently on Pure Nexus and still having the same issues. I notice that the build number is listed wrong in settings.... MTC19Z, which is the build # of a Nexus 5...
At this point, I'm open to anything. Thanks for any help you can give.

Security settings and pattern lock not working and crashing on most MM custom ROMs
I have been using the unofficial RR ROM for a while now, but it started getting slow and I wanted a fresh install. So I came here do download the newest release and see that there is an official release now. I flash it and immediately in the setup wizard I notice the problem: I can't set up a pattern lock, or any other for that matter, the settings app just crashes and goes to the previous setup page. Skipping it and later going into the settings gives me the same result when trying to add a pattern/PIN/password. Another curious thing is that when enabling unknown sources it just shows as checked, but as soon as I leave the security settings page it resets and I can't install any apk. After a few tries the security screen started force closing immediately after opening, so I gave up and went to the next ROM, AICP. Sadly I got the same results (and yes I did a factory reset and everything). I tried flashing without SuperSU and xposed, but nothing changed. Next I tried Dirty Unicorns, but also got the same.
I went back to the last version of the unofficial RR that worked for me, but I have some unrelated problems with it, so I would like to have a new release of preferably DU, AICP or RR.
Thank you for your time.

Xperia Z3 compact, the most disappointing Sony phone I've ever used.
Hey guys, I just wanted to share my experience with this device with you.
So, I bought this phone in January and it was the most excellent phone I've ever used, fast processor, good camera, a nice community backing it up, good audio, you know the rest.
But it wasn't until, like, three or four months after that and I began to have troubles with it. I'll try to list them up:
1. While using it for reading before going to sleep, it would lock itself as if I pressed the power button (and no, it wasn't because of the screen timeout because I have a very high timeout and whenever it locked itself it made the locking sound it normally does when you press the lock button). I guess it has to do with the position I usually hold it when I'm on my bed and about to sleep.
2. Vibration motor issues, the phone used to stop vibrating at random times, I had to give it a shake to start vibrating again, how can you explain that? How is that even possible? God, I just can't understand what was wrong, but I learned to live with it
3. Video playblack issues, it stopped playing any kind of video at random times and I had to reboot it so it could do it. For example, YouTube showed that there was a problem loading the video, Instagram videos would glitch and go black, Snapchat videos won't play, you open the video and it exits as if it has finished, Album app says "Cannot play video", Facebook videos would just show the preview and the loading would remain at zero, and so on... However, this got fixed when I updated to Marshmallow but had to live with it for at least two months until MM released.
4. Audio jack issues (first issue), when I plugged my headphones everything was okay, but when I twisted the headphones plug it would stop playing the music (twist the headphone plug, obviously not disconnecting it; let's say that you have a sort of L shaped earphones plug, you are going to watch a YouTube video so you put your phone in landscape, you rotate the earphones plug so you can hold the phone in landscape properly, phone detects as it was disconnected and stops the video).
And, finally...
5. Audio jack issues (second issue), the headphones would disconnect no matter what I do, even the slightest movement would disconnect it, this frustrates me because I listen to music A LOT, and I couldn't do that on my phone anymore. When trying to disconnect and reconnect the headphones the audio jack cracked and the plastic frame of the phone got unglued, and now I have the chrome audio jack and the plastic frame in my hands because I can't glue it back because it won't fit again.
The last issue just happened a couple of hours ago.
I am so disappointed of this phone, just when I though I have found the perfect phone for me, guess I have to try again with another brand... (not to mention I have seen in a lot of forums that this phone has a lot of issues in terms of hardware and software).
What do you think? Have you had any problems like this? Do you think I have bad luck?
What do you think I should do now?
Leave the comments, I will read them.

Most up to date Rooting instructions?
OK so , I'm coming from having an HTC One M7 for the last 2 years to the Sprint A9, 1.60.651.4 , I've already unlocked the boot loader through htcdev, I've downloaded Captain Throwbacks most recent TWRP, but I'm new to Marshmallow,, and I'm seeing all these different things about system/ systemless root, patching boot.img, encryption, and it's all jumbling together and getting me all confused to say the least...
Can anybody point me in the direction of the best / most up to date guide on how to root my Sprint A9? I'm used to just flashing TWRP and then flashing SuperSU, I may be over-analyzing things, but it all seems so much more complicated now, any help would be appreciated!

[Guide] [Root] LG G3 [Most Variant] running [Stock] [Marshmallow] & Install TWRP
Hello everyone,
These are the steps i used to root my LG G3 running official marshmallow. I rooted my LG G3 d851 and d850 by this method and i am sure that this will work on most variant (Not sure about Sprint or korean edition but you can give it a try).
So let's begin. Make sure that "USB debugging is on" for your device and drivers for that are also installed
Download drivers
Steps (Please do in sequence to avoid problem)
1: Download the official king root apk from here.
Download
2: Also download correct twrp for your device
Download twrp
3: Now root your device
a: Install kingroot apk. b: Connect to internet and run the kingroot application
c: Let the application do it work by clicking on root now.
(It can display cannot root your device sometime but forget it. After process is complete the device would be rooted temporary)
4: As device is rooted temporary so don't restart it.
5: Make sure adb is setup properly on your pc if not then follow the guide
Guide
6: Now copy your download twrp recovery (of step 2) to your device and name it twrp (With extension it would be twrp.img).
7: Connect your device to pc (If it is not) in usb debugging mode.
Run "minimal adb and fastboot" (of step 5). Now type commands
This will show you device if driver are installed properly.
Now type
Allow supersu permission from your device. (# will appear in minimal adb window)
Now type
TWRP recovery will now be installed on your device. To boot into recovery type.
If you did everything good then recovery will start. If you had anything else then ask in comments.
Hit thanks if this helped you :)

Which one cm 13 based rom is most stable as at 03-07-2016
Well i bought mi redmi note 3 kenzo in sort of thinking that it must posses some high level dev activities, but now i am thinking that i proved wrong, even after 4 months of launching this device ,it yet not get official cm support or any stable cm rom .every time when i open rn3 thread found every build has lot of bugs like
1.mic and speaker error
2.earphone bug
3.bt mac and other mac address diff.
4.unstable rils like wifi as reported by testers
5.camera fc errors
6.different fing. Sen. Remain unrecog.
7.proximity sensor error
8.sim related issues like volte and sim switch problems
9.battery bug
10.min. Brightness bug in rr latest 2-07-2016 build
11.and many others like media codecs bug,mtp transfer file bug
12.low quality camera
Even after this devs release them as stable daily driving . Why its development is too slow even at this earlier stage ?????
I dont know what will happen later on.... With this device
Never seen such issues in prior mi devices or other released phones .
Even mi devs seems less interested in this device (thats why they released miui 8 on 5.1 rather than 6.0.1)
After a big positive responses in sales of this device from buyers ,why they seems drawing back supports for global ones, even after being global one co. ,it remains stucked majorly with chinese .at least they should take care of indian market which warmly accepted and reposed in xiaomi .

Easiest and most stable Mi5 setup
Hello everyone,
I have been seduced by the Mi5 and got one. Even I work in IT, I have never flashed a phone and actually didn't plan to do it when I bought the Mi5. I read that the original Chinese ROM had English in it.
So I was happy to just use this ROM in English and that's it (I'm not picky in term of UI).
But I had several bad surprised when I received it:
- many things are still in Chinese
- several applications, even if they are in English, present/search Chinese results (actually I should have thought about it earlier)
- I installed Google Play but some services keep on failing and several apps won't install or update
As a result, I'm finding myself having to flash the phone with a custom ROM in order to get something correct.
As explained in the title I would like to have some advises on which ROMs would be the easiest and most stable to have? I'm not looking the for most fancy or classy ROM. I just want something that would be stable, run smoothly GApps and popular apps (Facebook, WhatsApp, etc...) and works with the most vital/used features of the phone (Wifi, Bluetooth, finger-print, camera, etc...). I have seen threads about several ROMs (Cyanogen, Xiaomi.eu, Resurrection Remix, Official Global Multi, etc...) but don't know which one would suit me best.
Finally, I have done my homework before posting this message, and read how to flash a ROM (especially on the xda-university). Here are the general required steps I have noted:
That said I have seen several other methods and terms on various threads talking about specific stages or the process.
People are "rooting" the phone. Is that necessary for what I want to do? I guess so.
People are are using "flashboot". I read it's another way to flash? What is best for the Mi5?
Please don't hesitate to redirect me to some guides/tutorials if there some fundamentals I have missed.
Thanks! :good:

[APP] The most accurate fitness tracking app for Android Wear!
We are Ken and Houtan, two developers building a personal trainer AI for wearables. Over the past year we've built out tech that can automatically recognize a user's exercises, like bench presses and squats, if they are wearing an Android Wear smart watch. We are launching the beta program for our app, YouMove, and are inviting members of the XDA community to join. We would love your comments and feedback on what we've done and would be thrilled to hear your suggestions on what we should do next!
Apply for the Beta!
We recently added the ability for the app to learn new user exercises, which we are really excited about!
Other features we are currently testing:
- Automatic, passive recognition of weight training, calisthenics and cardio exercises
- Tracking of exercises, reps, sets, resting times, calorie counts, and intensity
- Detailed display of a user's workout in a timeline on watch and phone
We know the XDA community can provide some great feedback on what we've made so far. Thanks everyone!
