July security update is out. Should I download it? Will it affect root?

I need PIE security disabled. How can I do this?

I need to disable PIE security on my Moto E LTE to be able to run some of my apps like Reaper, Network Spoofer, and possibly some IDEs. I've tried thet flashable fixes on XDA and none has worked. I am running on CM13 with root and TWRP.

Last best ROM for this phone with most recent security fixes?

Given the age of this phone, I simply wanted to ask a question on the last, best ROM that brings this phone to the most recent Android version, and provides security fixes? The newest ROM I can find is the Carbon ROM: http://forum.xda-developers.com/myto...-2015-t3077527 based on 4.4.4, and is newer than the Virtuous ROM I have been using on this phone (4.0.3), as I believe that one of the most recent ROMS that supported TMobile wifi calling (although I'm now on Google FI). I don't use this phone as a daily driver, but I do try to keep it updated, and available as a spare.

AT&T June Security Patch

Ever since I updated to the June Security Patch, I've been having a problem with the recents screen. Usually about once a day, it will state that there are no recent apps when I push the recents capacitive button. I have to reboot in order for any apps to appear in the recents screen again.

Anybody else have this problem? And more importantly, does anybody have a solution?

Root and security

Hello,
I decided that I want to root my phone in order to use Xposed FW.
From what I know, rooting the phone may cause problems in terms of malwares, security breaches and such.
I tend to underestimate Anti-Virus apps, they all look gimmicky and never find anything (or it's just me never infecting my phone...)

Anyway, how can I protect the data on my phone from all the crap around the internet after rooting and Xposing it?

Android security patch level for SM-G930U

I'm exited to own this new phone but I'm disappointed to see that the security patch level for this phone is at May 1st. This means the phone missing both June and July security patch updates. I tried to force an update but there was nothing to fetch. I'm using this model on Sprint's network.

Are other people with this model also seeing out of date security patches? Do GS7 phones usually get security patches on time?

July Security Patch Flashable Zip

Hey guys!

I need to test out some Xposed modules but i cant find a link to the stock July OTA zip. I need the zip because I want it to install it as a secondary ROM via MultiRom. If nobody can link me to a post for the download can you recommend a ROM with the most compatibility with Xposed? Thank you in advance for any help!

July Update - New security bug????

I just installed the July Security update. After the update it seems that my lockscreen security is gone. No matter how I set up the security on my phone I can simply unlock the phone with just a swipe. No matter what combination I have set up (currently fingerprint, password). Just swipe and the phone unlocks.

Is anyone else seeing the same issue?

Fingerprint and New Security Policy Update

Good day!

Can anybody tell me a workaround for the new security policy update?

Problem: I use the double tap feature to lock the screen using Nova Launcher. Before the recent update, I can unlock my phone using the fingerprint after using the double tap to lock. After getting the latest update, I have to use the Pattern unlock or any other lock you have set, just not the fingerprint unlock feature. I can still unlock the phone via fingerprint but I have to lock the device using the the Power/Lock button in order for it to be used/appear after waking up the phone.

I know it's not a major problem. It's also the reason I stayed away from Good Lock. But can somebody help me with a workaround? Thank you!

Help! cant change security level

Ive recently started messing around with my sm-t217s after having had it for 2 years. I rooted it using a o e touch root and now i get a prompt that an app has tried accessing a secure system and been blocked. Ive tried everything to fix this and the answer i keep finding is to lower my security level to nirmL but i dont have the option to do so. Someone please help

Security settings and pattern lock not working and crashing on most MM custom ROMs

I have been using the unofficial RR ROM for a while now, but it started getting slow and I wanted a fresh install. So I came here do download the newest release and see that there is an official release now. I flash it and immediately in the setup wizard I notice the problem: I can't set up a pattern lock, or any other for that matter, the settings app just crashes and goes to the previous setup page. Skipping it and later going into the settings gives me the same result when trying to add a pattern/PIN/password. Another curious thing is that when enabling unknown sources it just shows as checked, but as soon as I leave the security settings page it resets and I can't install any apk. After a few tries the security screen started force closing immediately after opening, so I gave up and went to the next ROM, AICP. Sadly I got the same results (and yes I did a factory reset and everything). I tried flashing without SuperSU and xposed, but nothing changed. Next I tried Dirty Unicorns, but also got the same.

I went back to the last version of the unofficial RR that worked for me, but I have some unrelated problems with it, so I would like to have a new release of preferably DU, AICP or RR.
