Why isn't there a PC app with Wear API support?

I live in a rural area where my best chance of getting service relies on having my phone shoved in a window. However, I carry a Samsung Gear Live on a daily basis, and it's very convenient and capable.

Because of where my phone is placed, I often have no access to it, and I do a lot of things at home that don't warrant wearing a watch, not to mention it's not exactly comfortable. Because of this, I've searched for various solutions to the problem of using my phone when I'm away from the phone. Thus far, there's obvious options like AirDroid, but that's unappealing since you need to leave this tab open at all times.

Yappy was an idea, but what made it most painful is it hardly ever sent my texts, and there was no configuration or history for the notifications when it passed through. Apparently, Microsoft's Cortana can integrate with the phone to allow notifications and texting from the PC.

What just baffles me is... why is there no app or extension that just uses the Wear API? Am I missing something, or is there just nothing out there that can connect via the Wear API, to offer as many features as a Wear watch, and not need to do much more than that? I imagine a simple app that connects like that would work just fine. I do understand the case of there being Wear apps that it would wanna use, but I also know that 4.4W was very rudimentary. So rudimentary, I couldn't even install much more than a Wear Bottle Spinner app. No new watch faces, no Skype or Music integration. It's so simple, I could imagine someone using the basic 4.4W framework to create an app to connect to Android Wear.

I'm unimpressed by the existence of apps that do their own thing, like Desktop Notifications, or Yappy, that ask you to use their apps together to achieve the best results. A Chrome extension, a Windows application, something simple that just connects with Android Wear over Wi-Fi. I think it's so simple, but so capable.

Have I just not searched enough? Am I missing something, a core aspect that makes it impossible to use the API in a simple Chrome extension, or has there just been no one who wanted to do it?

Android Wear Newbie - some (probably simple) questions

So... just got me a Huawei watch and while I love the look and feel, I have some issues/questions/hopes that i figure you guys will know :)
Just for detail, I'm using my watch with a Xperia Z5

1. Is it possible to hide notifications on watch face so that they only appear on swipe up? Failing that, is it possible to at least hide them on the 'deactivated' watch face, only to show when i 'activate it'?

2. When using voice I quite frequently get offline errors, despite being connected according to the phone and main screen - anything I can do here??
Related to this:
How can I stop the phone waking in my pocket when voice does connect? Leads to things happening in my pocket
3. Google Maps
- Can i get Google maps to default to walking?
- Frequently Google maps doesn't navigate properly at all - sticks on recalculating or just fails
- Can I get Google maps voice directions on watch not on phone?

4. I would like to set notifications on my phone to the watch - i've seen this option - but i still want to get the apps I've blocked notifications on the phone... possible?

5. App questions
- Is it possible to hide apps from the list at all? I tried a few of the other launchers but I keep getting Screen Overlay errors so have had to delete...
- Is there a better Agenda app that shows more than just today? (found Agenda Wear but can hardly read anything on that!)
- There seems to be a built in find my phone, but it doesnt work. Downloaded a separate app and it does does - any ideas?
- I seem to have three fitness apps on my writs... Google Fit vs Daily Tracking vs Fitness Tracking - do i need them all? Is one the core in which others are reliant?
- I seem to get a reboot when removing and often adding an app - is this usual?

6. How can I change contacts shown? Seems to be most recent except I alse get the first phonbook entry alphabetically who I rarely contact for some reason

A lot of questions I know - thanks in advance for any insight!!

Sony SW3 Wear apps not installing

Hello,

I recently repaired my phone (OPO) with my SW3 after performing a fresh install of a ROM and now the SW3 doesn't seem to be installing the Wear component of compatible apps, for example I've installed the Strava and Progression Fitness tracking apps, both of which were previously installed and worked fine but the Wear app won't load. I installed Google Maps and Gmail and they both work on the SW3, and notifications in general seem to be working, just not 3rd party apps. Any one seen anything similar?

Cheers!

This application will allow you to display two widgets on your watch:

• Current Speed
Show your current speed.
If your speed is greater than the current speed limit it will be shown in red.
The progress ring goes from green to red while getting close to the limit.
If the speed limit is unknown it's grey.

• Current Speed Limit
The application is trying to get the speed limit for OpenStreetMap.
If the value is not available the widget will show "__" in red.

You can manually add a speed limit for the current road:
Click on one of the widgets to open the "New Speed Limit" dialogue.
Try to open this when you are close to the road speed limit: your current speed is used to set the speed limit value.
Once the dialogue is open you can adjust the speed by swiping up or down before the end of the countdown.
Swipe right to dismiss.
(in case of error you can start again, it will update value)
The value will be saved and will be used each time you drive on this road again.
You can add the speed limit on the openstreetmap website too.
It's really easy. See Google+ community for information.

Use the phone application to modify the widgets behavior and look.

You can add alerts triggered at speed % of the current speed limit.

Long Click on widget to close.

Fundo Wear Smart Watch. 3.2.1. wearable problem

Hi, i sync my watch with my phone but the phone app will not show any of the data from my watch. Any idea what i can do to resolve this please?

Android Wear vs Tizen

I'm planning to buy either a Huawei Watch or a Samsung Gear S2 Classic soon, and the one piece of information I seem to be unable to find is a decent list of what apps are available for each?

Based on watching youtube videos I really prefer the interface on the S2, seems far more intuitive, but I don't want to find myself missing apps that I would find useful...

Anyone got one and find anything missing or know where I can find a list - google is failing me! Having come from Windows Phone to Android recently I dont want to back myself into an app hole again ;)

Poor battery life after Wear 2.0 Preview Fix

SUCCESS!
I am on the non-preview firmware. I've been using the watch for the last 2 1/2 day and there is still 30% battery left.
It looks like the total battery life would be 3 1/2 day.
Here is what I did:
1. (Thanks cardsbea.. @gmail.com) Main thing, drain the battery to complete 0%.
(optionally) After reaching 0%, the watch shuts down, to drain the battery even more, I waited a few hours and kept the crown pressed for a few minutes every 15 minutes. Or leave the watch discharged over night.

2. Something was fixed in Google Play: 9.2.56

3. On the phone: Settings/Storage & USB/Internal storage/Clear Cached Data (it looks like it also improved phone performance - less heat)

4. May fix some BT/WiFi issues: cycle Airplane mode on the phone and the watch once a while (turn ON, wait 1 minute, turn OFF). It looks like the Airplane mode resets the radios in a special way.

Wear versions after 1.4 for 360

Greetings,

It looks as if the 360 is never going to receive the Wear 1.5 update, let alone the upcoming Wear 2.0 update. It sucks that Google/Motorola/Lenovo drop support for a device that is only 2 years old, but there you go.

So, is anyone currently working on porting the Wear 2.0 dev preview to 360? I am willing to chip in cash, spare watches, whatever to aid this development. At present I don't really have the time to work on it myself but may be able to contribute time later in the year.

Perhaps if we all work together, we can keep this still perfectly good watch up-to-date and future-proofed for a good while!

Comments?

"Ok Google" hotword with always listening conflicting with Android Wear

When I want to use "ok google" voice command on my LG Urbane 1st gen my Nexus 5X listens to the command and wakes up. It doesn't have any problem with duplicated voice commands because the smartphone does not listen at all, but it's really disturbing because the screen goes on and sometimes does not turn off.
I remember when I had a Moto 360 with a Moto X, whenever I turned on the Moto 360 screen the Moto Voice commands and Google Voice commands would turn off automatically.
I don't know if it is a feature of the Moto 360 or if Google changed the behavior of the app.
Do anyone know how to make the always listening commands turn off when the smartwatch screen is on?

Reply on messages on android wear connected on iphone ?

Hi, i have my lg urbane connected on iphone.if someone know a way on how to reply on messanges in android wear which is connected to iphone please tell me .
Thanks for your time:o

[APP] The most accurate fitness tracking app for Android Wear!

We are Ken and Houtan, two developers building a personal trainer AI for wearables. Over the past year we've built out tech that can automatically recognize a user's exercises, like bench presses and squats, if they are wearing an Android Wear smart watch. We are launching the beta program for our app, YouMove, and are inviting members of the XDA community to join. We would love your comments and feedback on what we've done and would be thrilled to hear your suggestions on what we should do next!

Apply for the Beta!

We recently added the ability for the app to learn new user exercises, which we are really excited about!

Other features we are currently testing:
- Automatic, passive recognition of weight training, calisthenics and cardio exercises
- Tracking of exercises, reps, sets, resting times, calorie counts, and intensity
- Detailed display of a user's workout in a timeline on watch and phone

We know the XDA community can provide some great feedback on what we've made so far. Thanks everyone!
