One M9 Prime CE - gap between screen and frame

Hello :)

I have my HTC One M9 Prime CE for a week. I think it was a good choice, but I noticed one disturbing issue - small gap between screen and frame. This is picture of it:
i.imgur.com/CdmDflW.jpg (sorry for non-clickable link but I haven't 10 posts)

I hope it's clear enough.

There's not any other gaps. This one is very thin, but backlight is clearly visible between the edge of glass and metal frame (not visible if screen is even slightly pressed there). It's possible that dust particles will get between glass and display or will affect backlight? It would be annoying for me. I think that the whole display is bonded and it's not real problem, but I'm not sure.

Of course, my phone is under warranty, however I want to avoid repairs because of a lot of bad opinions.

Thanks for feedback in advance.

Compatibility between NEO and V editions?

What's the difference between SM-G318ML, SM-G316ML and the V variant?
Are 18ML and 16ML the same?
In fact, and ML models compatible between each others?

Thank you for your replies

Reboots between the installation of SuperSU, custom kernel, Xposed...

I am actually using this order to reinstall all the system each time a new security revision is out for my Nexus 6P.

Quote:

Flash Factory image
Reboot
Flash TWRP
Flash SuperSU
Reboot
Flash custom kernel (ElementalX)
Reboot
Flash Xposed
Install Busybox

Unfortunately, the "Android is upgrading... Optimizing app x of 193" lasts a loooooong time, and it needs to be made two times: one after I install the factory image (with no data erase), and another time when Xposed is installed.

In order to get a correct setup, I heard that, after SuperSU is installed, it needs to enter the system to do some things. And if I don't recall correctly, the kernel too. Do you think it may be possible to supress some reboot in my list, without affect something, so I can avoid the two long cache creations?

Thank you very much and kind regards.

which phone would you buy between the OP3 and S7 Edge

hey guys,

Currently have a OnePlus One.

Am a decently experienced user. Started out on a Samsung Galaxy S, then went to a Galaxy Nexus and to a Nexus 4 after that. OnePlus One finally.

All of these have been very very community supported devices, I was the kind of user to change ROMs every week and often times having to wipe all data.

I'm mostly through all that, mostly because phones are now very much usable in their stock ROMs. By usable I mean we get decent battery with a seamless experience. I have absolutely no patience for lag or visual delays.

I moved away from Samsung and into Nexi phones because they bloated themselves with crap and ugly software but they have been improving or so I hear.

I am now torn between the Oneplus 3 and S7 Edge. I have a list of pros and cons for both and I can't decide so I would mostly like to know what phone YOU would pick in my situation.

I can pick up the S7 edge for 550€ and the OP3 for 400€ so price is not terribly different.

Differences between root and unlock bootloader

Is it true just because we have root does not mean that we can flash custom rooms and kernels? We still need the bootloader unlocked before we can flash custom roms and kernels right?and the bootloader needs to be unlocked in order to be able to flash a custom recovery onto the G7 correct?so if this is all correct then basically just being rooted don't really do alot for us without the bootloader being unlocked.could someone please tell me if I'm right or wrong. Thanks!!!

[GUIDE] Porting Between HTC MSM8974 Devices

This guide will explain to users on how to port from the HTC One M8, HTC One E8 and HTC Butterfly 2 roms to our beloved Desire EYE. The porting between these devices take little to no knowledge at all to do if you know how to logcat and read kernel last_kmsg.

In this guide i will explain how I've ported InsertCoin M8 to Desire EYE.. Should apply to all htc msm8974 devices.

Requirements :
- Developers Permission for the rom your porting if you plan to release
- Android Image Kitchen
- Basic knowledge on understanding my method of porting

InsertCoin ( Port )
Desire EYE Rom ( Base )

Step 1 : Fixing Camera
Each HTC MSM8974 devices have different camera modules thus need fixing
So take these similar libs from stock roms and place them into the rom your porting.

1. All /system/lib/libtuning** lib files from stock and place them in port in /system/lib/
2. All /system/vendor/lib/libchromatic** lib files from stock and place them in port in /system/vendor/lib/
3. Take /system/etc/res_ctrl** files from stock and place them in port in /system/etc/ ( fix camera resolution )

Step 2 : Fixing NFC

EYE, E8, and B2 all have same NFC driver. So this method will explain when porting from M8

Files to Delete from Port

Code:

- /system/app/Nfc
- /system/etc/nfcee_access.xml
- /system/lib/hw/nfc.qcom.so
- /system/lib/libnfc.so
- /system/lib/libnfc_jni.so
- /system/libnfc_ndef.so
- /system/vendor/firmware/libpn544_fw.so

Now add these from stock to port

Code:

- /system/app/NfcNciNxp/
- /system/etc/libnfc-brcm.conf
- /system/etc/libnfc-nxp.conf
- /system/etc/nfcee_access.xml
- /system/lib/hw/nfc_nci_pn547.defualt.so
- /system/lib/libnfc-nci-nxp.so
- /system/lib/libnfc_nci_nxp_jni.so
- /system/lib/libnfc_ndef.so
- /system/vendor/firmware/libpn547_fw.so

Kernel Side for NFC : Will edit later with indep fixing

Step 3 : Having Correct Kernel
Will post stock kernel ports soon with NFC ramdisk fixes.

Between Spen 2 and Spen 4 which one has plastic tip? (spen help for lenovo yoga 2)

Might not be the best place to post but if anyone knows about all the spen in the world it might be you guys.

The question is which spen has the plastic tip?

Long story version is:
I like to draw digitally, hence I got a samsung galaxy note and later switched to a lenovo yoga 12.2 inch for drawing.
I used to use my original samsung galaxy note 10.1 spen for my lenovo yoga laptop because their stylus just sucked. After that one got lost, I have decided to buy a galaxy note 4's stylus to use with my lenovo yoga, the accuracy was good but a bit draggy.
And that one got lost..(i know)
So I took a chance and bought a fujiutsi lifebook stylus, which was smooth...but the accuracy was off, the cursor followed underneath the stylus and I just couldnt calibrate the thing to work.

So I went back to buying a galaxy note 4 spen which i got for a bit cheaper. the accuracy was great, the pressure senestivity was harder but I managed to fix it. It was then I noticed that the thing was draggy because it had a rubber tip.

...I fiddled with the rubber tip...and It came off...I cant superglue it back..I also noticed without the rubber tip the accuracy is a bit off.

So before I go and buy the same thing..I was wondering if I should buy an spen with plastic tip. I looked around the XDA threads and it seems that samsung provides different tips for their galaxy note 3 users(http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=2478825). I don't think I should buy the tips separately not knowing which one is plastic or rubbery. I think I can get the spen 2(with the thought that spen 2 has a plastic nib) in the same price as the set of spen 3 nibs. But I am not sure if they are gonna have the same accuracy without that rubber tip...or if spen 2 does have a plastic nib.
Or maybe I should just buy a bamboo feel (though that needs battery)

So..help?

differences between official and unofficial RR roms (kenzo)?

Hi,

In fact, what's the difference between official and unofficial Resurrection Remix roms for kenzo? Which is the most stable currently?

Besides that, do I need to flash developer miui rom before trying to unlock bootloader/install twrp/install RR? Currently I'm with the Chinese seller's custom rom ("shop" rom).

Thank you for your patience.

How to flash back and forth between Marshmallow and Lollipop? We need a clear guide.

I'll start off explaining my situation and then explain what myself and lots of other people seem to be confused about.

I was on Kikat last week and then upgraded to PB1 and unlocked my bootloader using method 1 by jkruse. Everything went fine and I was running stang5litre. I wanted to try Phoenix but I could not find instructions on how to get to PD1 first. I then saw that I could go right from PB1 to CM 13. I booted to recovery, wiped, installed CM and gApps, and everything went fine also.

I know my baseband is still PB1 but I'm guessing since I'm on CM now that I'm not actually on any official build right? (PD1, PF4, etc). So with that being said I don't understand how to go to other ROMs or back to LP.

I tried going back to recovery, wiping, and installing stang5litre again but my phone would not boot past the Samsung screen. Guessing something with the kernel? Soni flashed back to CM for now and I've been reading like crazy on here.

I'm trying to understand the process for switching between LP and MM. I found instructions by jkruse in the Phoenix forum (post #68) which talk about upgrading/downgrading bootloader but they are not clear and also they specifically say "Upgrade To PD1 Stock Rooted Rom With PD1 Unlocked Bootloader From 5.0 TW Rom". Well I'm not on a 5.0 TW ROM now.

I've seen countless posts in multiple forums showing a lot of other people are confused about this stuff. If I had all the details (clear instructions, file links, etc) I would glady make a very easy to follow guide and explanation of everything. I'm good at writing out stuff like that and making it very easy to understand.

Some things I want to understand so I can make a guide..

-How to go from PB1 to stock rooted PD1 (I see a guide to get to PF4 but Phoenix says you need PD1)
-How to go from CM to stock rooted PD1
-How to go from CM back to stock rooted PB1
-How to go from PD1/PF4 back to stock rooted PB1 (this process might be the same as the process coming from CM?

Any help/explanation would be greatly appreciated. Some of this info might be scattered across different forums but I think a guide specifically for switching between all the builds would be a huge help to a lot of people. Please link files also. I will definitely give credit to all who help if I do get the info needed to make it!! Thanks!

Switching between roms

Hey, I have a simple question, I'm asking before trying because I cannot afford to lose my install.
Currently I've got CM13 installed and I want to revert back to stock, however this formats the whole device (Nexus 5x).
From stock+twrp, can I simply copy my (compressed)CM13 backup from my computer to my device and restore the CM13 installation?

Any Physical Difference Between 2015 & 2016 J7 ?

I bought a Sojitec case for my J7 2016 version. Everything fits except the volume button. The case's volume button is higher than the phone's button by 1 or 2 cm.

I tried to stretch it but it doesnt work. Despite this, when I press the decrease part of the button, it increases volume.

Is it possible that theres a physical difference between the 2015 & 2016 versions of the J7?

What is the difference between Stock Android and Cyanogenmod?

I'm pretty much a noob when it comes to android development, so please bear with me:silly:. As I understand, stock android is a generic firmware released by Google Inc. and not specific to any particular device. Similarly, CyanogenMod is also a generic firmware. Then what's the difference between the two?
