Should I upgrade, Note 2 to Note 4 - how is Android 6 on Note 4?

Hello,

Android 6 official / stock exists on Note 4 according to Sammobile Firmware section, does it work ok?
I have some important questions. (SORRY! <3<3♥)

Is the thumbscanner as good or kinda as good as the S6 one?
Does the thumbscanner work with Lastpass?
How many fingerprints can be registered on the thumbscanner, under Android 6 for Note 4?
Does the Note 4 have built in wireless charging mat, or do I need to buy another one, like my Note 2
How is the microphone on the Note 4 when used handsfree, mine is TERRIBLE on my Note 2.

Thanks
Anyone know of a comprehensive, Note 2 vs Note 4 guide?

Upgrade for galaxy tab 3 Android version 4.4.2

I just bought a Galaxy Tab 3 Android version 4.4.2 I'm hoping to Upgrade to 5 or better. It seems that version 4 has a bug that breaks Bluetooth tethering in pdanet, so i am unable to gain access to the internet without WI-fi tethering which is eating up my free high-speed tethering data though metropcs. My phone is rooted and i have frozen my tethering provision and my tethering automation using titanium backup. That keeps them from seeing me tether 'great' Problem is in order to tether thru Wi-fi, i have to defrost tethering Provision which now they can see me. Pdanet says it's Android version 4. I have version 4.4.2
supposedly that bug is fixed in version 5 if i understand correctly.
Thanx in advance for any help or advice. by the way im using foxfi with foxfi addon on my galaxy lite and Pdanet on my windows 10 laptop.

Guide to upgrade KII-L21 to MM & active FP of Custom Roms.

Dear XDA & Fellow Community Members,

This Guide is for KII-L21 variant ONLY!

& hereby declare that not I nor XDA is responsible for any damage & or WW3 trigger of your device.
Try at your own risk.

Assuming you have variant KII-L21 ( cust version : C636D00x/C185D00x )
& also on stock LP firmware, rooted, bootloader unlocked, TWRP installed.

if not, search forum for BL unlock, rooting & TWRP installation guide.

Step 1 : Take a clean Nandroid of existing installation of your device.

Step 2: Flash stock recovery via ADB & Fastboot of your last known stock rom installed
this one worked for me : https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=24545070682210594

Command : adb reboot bootloader
fastboot devices
fastboot flash recovery *recovery img name*.img

Step 3 : Download your exact firmware.According to cust version stated in "About Phone" of your last stock rom.
( cust version : C636D00x/C185D00x )
Cust : C636D00x >>> http://consumer.huawei.com/vn/mobile...n.htm?id=82266
Cust : C185D00x >>> http://forum.xda-developers.com/hono...tered-t3388491

Step 4 : Extract the zip & copy dload folder to your SD card. It'd be safer if a high speed fresh SD is used I suppose.

Step 5: Turn off your Device, the press the Volume up+Volume Down+power button at same time for 10 seconds,
then release the power button only. you'll see firmware upgrading. wait for upgrade to finish.

Step 6 : If you wish , you can set up EMUI, but not mandatory. now, flash TWRP again.

Step 7 : Download any build newer than 20th july of CM , download gapps Nano, flash together via TWRP
if any error is found, just factory reset from TWRP & flash again.
CM Thread : http://forum.xda-developers.com/hono...ghtly-t3344499

Step 8 : First boot might take few minutes, after booting, set up CM. Voila !!! FP works like charm ^_^

Extra steps >>>>>

if you want FP on Ressurection Remix, just dirty flash RR latest build just after setting up CM. it worked for me, not sure if it will work for you or not. if found boot loop, i'll suggest waiting for @maxprzemo to update RR.

& Again, Thanks to @crpalmer & @BadDaemon for everything they have done for our device. :good:
& also thanks to al the moderators & whole XDA community ^_^ :good:
:highfive: :highfive: :highfive:

[Q] After upgrade to 6.0.1 of A310F hardware buttons not working

Hey guys,

I upgraded to 6.0.1 stock rom with ODIN. Not the hardware buttons are not responding. I already tried factory reset and wipe cache. No success.

Also downgrading to 5.1.1 doesn't change anything. Buttons not working in latest 5.1.1 ... strange.

Can someone give me an advice?

Thanks!

Trying to upgrade my HTC Desire 610 ROM

I'm new to this. But I'm trying to upgrade my tester HTC Desire 610 ROM. This is what I have tried:

Details

Before you proceed, please confirm that this software upgrade to 1.54.502.15 (1.54.502.16 for pre-paid devices) is a newer version than what is currently loaded on your device. If it is the same version, there is no need to reload the software. Navigate to the Home screen then tap All apps > Settings > About > Software Information and locate the Software version. If your Software number is less than 1.54.502.15 (1.54.502.16 for pre-paid devices), you should proceed with the upgrade.

WARNING: During the upgrade process the device will reboot multiple times and show software upgrade screens. Do not remove the AC charger as this might stop the update and your device may be rendered inoperable!

Getting Started

Before you proceed with the update, make sure you have done the following:

· Set aside approximately 20 minutes to allow the device to update

· Connect the device to a charger

· Ensure the battery is charged to at least 35%

· Ensure the device is connected to AT&T 4G/LTE and a stable Wi-Fi network

Installation instructions

To manually perform the update, follow these steps below:

1. From the Home screen tap All apps, then tap Settings.

2. Tap AT&T Software Update.

3. Tap Check for updates.

4. Tap Continue to download the update.

5. If downloading the update using the mobile data network (not connected to Wi-Fi), you may be prompted with a data fee warning message. If this is acceptable, tap YES to start the upgrade process.

6. Status of the download can be checked in the Notifications pull down.

7. Once the download is complete, the user will be prompted to install from the Notifications pull down. Tap the System update to begin the upgrade process.

8. Tap OK to begin the update process to software version 1.54.502.15 (1.54.502.16 for pre-paid devices).

WARNING: During the upgrade process the device will reboot multiple times and show software upgrade screens. Do not remove the AC charger as this might stop the update and your device may be rendered inoperable!

9. Device will reboot and begin installation. Users will not be able to use their device during the installation process (approximately 10 minutes).

10. The system update is complete. Tap OK to continue.

11. For best performance, open Play Store and tap the Menu icon, then select My apps and ensure all installed apps are updated.

Manual system update instructions:

If you are outside of AT&T/Wi-Fi coverage, or the update is not found, you may perform a manual system update. This process requires that you download and install HTC Sync Manager first in order to get the proper drivers. If you do not have HTC Sync Manager installed already, you may download the software from
WARNING: Performing the system update manually will delete all information from the device. Ensure all information is backed up before proceeding. See the Help & How To section of this website for more information on backing up your device contents.

Performing the ROM Update:

1. Download and save the HTC Desire™ update to your PC.
Note: Please make sure to download the correct version for your device.

2. Connect your device to your PC via the supplied USB cable.

3. If the device is not recognized by the PC, ensure you have HTC Sync Manager installed and then disconnect and reconnect the device from the USB cable.

4. Once the device is properly recognized on the PC, locate the HTC Desire™ ROM Update that you downloaded. Double-click on the file to launch the system update wizard.

5. Follow all of the system update wizard instructions shown on your PC.

6. Once the update is complete, click Finish in the Wizard and the device will reboot.

7. Once the device reboots, the initial setup wizard will appear.

8. Once the initial setup process is complete, open Play Store and tap the Menu icon, then select My apps and ensure all installed apps are updated.

9. After initial setup and updating all apps, the device is ready for use.

Note: If the ROM update wizard fails to recognize the device, close the wizard and then follow the steps below:

· From a powered off state, hold VOLUME DOWN while powering on the device.

· Use the volume buttons to scroll to FASTBOOT and then press the POWER button to select it.

· Connect the device to the PC while in this state and attempt the ROM update again.

To exit FASTBOOT manually, use the volume keys to navigate to REBOOT and press the POWER button to select it.

But it does nothing when I click on the .exe.
So what to do next??

Ebay phone: Need some help understanding this OS and how to upgrade

Hello,

I am new here but I have been reading ALOT. I purchased a Samsung Galaxy S5 SM-G900P off ebay and it came rooted with Kitkat 4.4.2 installed. Although it works fine in Canada in general, it's been causing me a TON of headaches. The biggest problem is roaming...I have the "you have lost data connectivity because you left your home network with data roaming turned off" error, which no one seems to have a solution for online. Sim cards in the US didn't work at all but my Canadian one is fine and no issues in Central America, so it is a good travelling phone in general. There are a ton of Chinese characters that populate the phone.

So I'm wondering what the best step would be for flashing a new ROM? How do I do a ROM backup on a phone that is already rooted? Is it safe to install recovery onto the phone? Is there some way to tell if one is already installed? Basically I would like to flash one of the custom Lollipop or Marshmallow ROMs, but above all I need to fix the roaming issue ASAP.

Phone info provides the following:
Phone Model: SM-G900P
Device Type: klte
Product Name: klte
Country of origin: not listed
Original CSC Code: CHN
Firmwares CSC Code: <root required>
Active CSC Code: CHN / TGY
CSC Country: USA/CN
Bootloader/PDA/CSC/BASEBAND version: G900PVPU1AND2
Root Existance: Yes
Android Version: 4.4.2

Any help on some steps to backing up/flashing and upgrading to Lollipop would be fantastic. The tricky part is understanding what has been done to the phone and what I can do to not screw it up lol.

Cheers!

Free upgrade to HTC 10 from M9. Should I do it?

Hello. I'm part of a small group of people that happen to quality for free upgrades from HTC directly (don't ask.. long story).

I had an M8 (it was my first HTC phone, fell in love with it). I got the M9 at a smoking price so I chose to jump to it. Little did I know I'd be able to get an HTC 10 for free later if I wanted.

So here's the deal. I root/s-off my phone (I use Verizon so this is non-trivial from what little reading I've done so far). I have my M8 still, so I'll use that while I send the 10 off to be s-off'd. Once I get it back I'll try the stock to see what its like, but then I'll likely switch to the ViperROM unless I am persuaded to try something else. I'm a fan of "using what works" as I'm getting past that stage of reflashing something new every week "just because I can".

So is the 10 worth the effort to upgrade? I don't have to upgrade. In fact, I can simply wait for something else from HTC. I can only get one upgrade, and once I do it I can't upgrade for 12 more months. So should I upgrade?

The reason I'm asking is because its quite a bit of work to do this (gotta mail the 10 to someone to get s-off, gonna have to do firmware upgrades, flash a new ROM, reload my apps, etc.). Is the 10 such a better phone that it's worth doing for free or should I wait? I really don't have any complaints with my M9. I don't use cameras on phones, and I work from home so my battery is almost always fully charged. But I do like having more power for games or whatever I feel like doing.

The only thing I can think of that I wish my phone had besides more processing power and more battery life (not that the M9 disappoints) was a slightly bigger screen (I envy the Note screens!) because I'm a big guy. I'm 6'3" and I have big sausage fingers, so small screens are hard to use.

Thanks!
