[Question] Microsoft Remote Desktop on Android 4.4.4

I'm thinking about resurrecting my wifi tablet as a remote desktop client. I want the OS to be snappy and have good battery life, so I'm thinking on flashing 4.4.4 unless I'm wrong.

My main question is if the latest Microsoft Remote Desktop would run on Android 4.4.4. I'd rather not go through the entire flashing process if it won't work in the end anyway.

The Play Store page isn't very specific as it just says requirements vary on each device. It obviously runs fine on the latest Android 6 on my Nexus 6P, but I want a larger screen.

Fire TV remote app and changing Wi-Fi

I'm on my way to the Outer Banks for a week at the beach. I have my fire stick but forgot my remote. I've checked stores to get a replacement remote or compatible bluetooth controller, but no luck. I have a possible solution, but not sure if it would work. Let me know what you think.

I setup the hotspot on my phone to mirror my home network. I already know I can fool my fire stick to think I'm online. Then I can use my wife's phone with the Fire TV remote app to pair with the Fire stick.

The problem comes with connecting with the Wi-Fi network when we'll be staying. It's password-protected. The remote app will only work as long as I'm connected to my phone's hotspot. Will the Fire stick stay connected long enough for me to enter the password, or will it disconnect the second I click the preferred network?

Does anyone else have any other suggestions? Is there any way to manually learn the network and password before connecting to it using adb? Anybody?

Cannot find Amazon Fire TV Remote App in Google Play store

I live in Canada and have the google play store installed. When I search for the "Amazon Fire TV Remote App", it isn't found in the store. When I search the store from a desktop computer, it's definitely in the store (https://play.google.com/store/apps/d...ent.aosp&hl=en) and while logged into my google account, it says there are no eligible devices on which to install this app. I also tried searching the amazon app store - no luck there either.

Is this because I'm in Canada or is the app not installable on a non-rooted Amazon Fire (how ironic would that be)?

Reset my Router, can't change Internet settings in FireTV, the remote doesn't work.

Reset my router yesterday, so I would have to change the settings in my FireTV to the new connection. Turns out my remote doesn't work. Granted, I haven't used it since I got the FireTV, since I always used my phone to pair.

The batteries weren't the problem, because I bought a brand new pack of AAAs at Target, and the remote still won't work.

I've tried the "Hold the home button down for 10 seconds" trick, but it didn't work.

Any suggestions?

Remote Type App

Anyone know of an app I can install and remotely (using a PC) hangup the current conversation?

Some persons who shall remain unnamed seem to be giving their friends my phone number then talk for an hour on my phone!

I've got airdroid installed and was able to cause a loud ring to the phone but really nothing else.

I'm using a rooted Nexus 6P running Resurrection Remix ROM.

I've gotten a few of the numbers calling and added them to my block list but if I could hang it up, that would be cool.

LG l9 II - IR Blaster not working with remote control apps

Hello. I have a problem... When I press any button on the remote control, IR blaster does not flash. When I run an application that comes with the system, IR blaster normally blinks, I checked so I pointed the other phone in IR blaster, and I started the camera. The camera can see IR, and no eye. I tried a variety of applications, and is always the same problem. What could be my problem?

Amazon FireTV Remote - Pairing HELP!

Hey!
I can't for the love of god be able to pair my Amazon FireTV Remote, Shield TV does not want to detect it while my macbook detects the remote without any problem.

I hold the "Home button" on the FireTV remote to put it in pairing mode, my macbook detects the fire remote without any problem and the shield never shows it while looking for bluetooth devices...

I tested my bluetooth speaker to see if shield's bluetooth was working and it detected the speaker without any problem, I don't understand why it never "sees" the firetv remote.. any ideias? plz halp!

Fastboot FAILED (remote: failed to erase partition )

I have OPO 64GB and unlocked via fastboot. Every fastboot command related to flash or erase or format gave same error, unable to erase or write the partition.

I was able to fastboot boot <custom_recovery.img> into TWRP 2.7 I believe but TWRP gives errors, unable to mount <partition>, etc. Any command in TWRP results into a failure to mount or write.

I tried ADB Sideload <zip> and at 12% it rebooted back into Cyanogen Mod ready logo.

TWRP only runs if I boot to it via fastboot, it can't write to the bootloader via fastboot. One strange thing under TWRP storage it shows Internal Storage 0MB and USB-OTG 0MB, the partitions also show 0MB excep for system, but can't format anything or resize.

I feels like there is no storage in this device, is this something that can be fixed or is this a DOA device? It was working fine and a Cyanogen update ran and bricked it!

When I try to fastboot flash I get this error, fail to write. I even tried the OnePlusRestoreTool and it fails to write to the phone.

fastboot flash recovery twrp3.img
target reported max download size of 1073741824 bytes
sending 'recovery' (13326 KB)...
OKAY [ 0.422s]
writing 'recovery'...
FAILED (remote: flash write failure)
finished. total time: 5.479s

Thoughts?

Thank You

VR using cheaper headset and remote? Still possible?

So I'm interested in VR. Looks like the inexpensive headset from Samsung () doesn't support the note 4 without physically modifying the unit for the note 4 to fit? I'm going by what I've read and seen on YouTube as I have not tried for myself.

While searching around, I've found several generic VR headset that come with a Bluetooth remote controller for about .

My question is for those familiar with VR. Seems to me like when you dock your note 4 in a Samsung VR headset via USB it put the phone in a VR mode where you can launch and control games, videos, etc...

So can you do the same with one of these generic headset that do not have a usb docking port?

Obviously I'm sure you could play VR youtube videos, but what about the occulus gallery? The VR specific games? Can you force the note 4 into whatever VR mode the Samsung branded headset initializes (by usb docking) without it being usb docked?

Hoping someone who has used VR on the note 4 will chime in with some advice.

Many thanks in advance.
