Rooting AT&T Samsung Galaxy s7 edge (snapdragon 820)
Hey everyone,
My main goal of this is to figure out how to root my s7 edge (snapdragon 820 variant).
First of all, this is my first time ever making a post on a thread/forum.
Also, I have just recently made the switch from my Apple Iphone to a Samsung Galaxy s7 edge.
With that being said, I've had an iphone since the iphone 4 and I have been jailbroken ever since.
I am aware that there is no official "root" available to the US snapdragon variant of the s7 edge but I know that it has been done but I have never done this before so I do not want to mess up my brand new phone.
Is there a way to ensure that all of my firmware/software/security settings are available to be rooted?
Thank you for bearing with me :cyclops:

Redmi Note 3 (Snapdragon) Hangs and Restarts
Hello,
I bought Redmi Note 32GB Snapdragon variant (my first Mi phone) a month ago and just after 10 days or so it started showing hanging problems. If it was a random once in a while hanging issue, I would not have had any problem but when the phone slows, after a couple of seconds it freezes then all I can do is restart it into fastboot mode or wait for it to switch off after around a minute so I can restart it myself. I have tried installing MIUI 8 Global Beta and after that back to MIUI 7 but both seem to have the same problem. I also went to the Mi Service Center where they installed their own update again and said it will not have issue anymore but it still shows the same problem.
I have googled for a similar issue on this phone but I seem to be only one having it yet. I have no idea what to do so please if you know anything about this issue then please tell me.
Regards,
Varun

Can the new SnapDragon root method which doesn't trip knox be done on Exynos?
I don't really understand the nature of the new root method, but as I understand it has something to do with FRP? And it doesn't trip knox. Is the same exploit available for the Exynos international s7? I am finding answers very hard to get ahold of so I thought I would just ask the community on this one.
I'd like to avoid tripping knox if possible.

Can I get Xposed on a SnapDragon version of the S7?
I was able to root my U.S. Cellular S7 Edge and to my understanding it has a locked boot loader. So I am able to root but not flash custom recovery or rom. Can anyone clarify this? Also because of this, does it mean I can not actually get Xposed on my phone now?

Snapdragon 821 launched

One of the design wins that got leaked a few weeks back is the LeEco LeMax 2 Pro with 8GB or RAM but we suspect that Qualcomm wanted to prepare this chip for the Samsung Galaxy Note S7, the biggest design win to come in the Android space.
Since the Snapdragon 820 with Kryo core clocked at 2.15GHz has been selling for two quarters, the company managed to do additional optimization and increased the clock by an impressive 250MHz getting it to a final 2.4Ghz. This is again a maximal processor clock and as you know this maximal clock will only occur occasionally when the SoC needs a lot of power. We can think of two possible scenarios where you will be able to max the Snapdragon 821, launching the application and some of the games.
Qualcomm has managed to get to 115 design wins with Snapdragon 820, but again since the Snapdragon 820 got so successful, some important clients wanted to get something a bit faster. The company claims a 10 percent performance increase in performance.
It is clear that Snapdragon 821 will not replace the Snapdragon 820. They will both co-exist as many vendors will not want to pay the premium.
The rest of the device including DSP, Snapdragon X12 LTE modem remain unchanged and we are waiting to hear back about the possible change of the maximal GPU clock. Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 is inside of the Samsung Galaxy S7, Galaxy S7 Edge , Xiaomi Mi5, LG G5, HTC 10, LeEco LeMax 2 and Sony Xperia X and at least 108 other less prominent phones.
Snapdragon 821 is expected in phones in the second half of 2016 and it wont be reserved for smartphones only. You can expect to see Snapdragon 821 based tablets, mobile VR head mounted displays and other new devices. The last Galaxy Note 5 was launched in the middle of August, and that gives us the idea that the Galaxy Note 7 might not be far off either.
We can guess that IFA, that starts in the first days of September in Berlin German will be an interesting place and time for some additional Snapdragon 821 devices too.

Exynos VS Snapdragon
Is true you have limitations with Exynos that you don't have with Snapdragon regarding editing source code?
Basically i need to buy a Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge and i want to know which version has less limits...
Basically i need to buy a Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge and i want to know which version has less limits...
Snapdragon or Exynos S7. Please let me explain my situation.
I am in the USA and I am on Cricket Wireless. So I have to buy the phone at full retail price. AT&T said that they will unlock it for me if I buy it at full retail price.
So I don't know if I should go with the Snapdragon or the Exynos version.
The Snapdragon version is about 0 from AT&T. While the Exynos version is 4.98 from amazon. The Exynos version is also the international version and I do go to Europe, Japan, and New Zealand. I don't need the LTE bands. 18mbps on HSPA+ plus is good enough for what I need. I just need it for directions and web browsing.
My biggest concern is which model is the most third party ROM compatible. If I buy this phone then I need to keep it for several years; and let's be honest most Android vendors don't really update their phones. So at some point I will need to put a third party ROM on it to extend the phones life.
The SuperMan-Rom appears to be the popular third party ROM for the S7. Is the SuperMan-ROM compatible with the S7 (non-Edge)?
So based all on of these variables which S7 model should I buy?
Thanks in advance!

Snapdragon 820 device with hdmi/mhl out
Hello,
Do you know if there is any flagship-spec phone (Snapdragon 820) with MHL/HDMI out?
I need to connect my phone to Appradio via cable (tried chromecast and miracast, doesn't work well and audio compression is terrible).
Thanks in advance for any clues.

Edge (Snapdragon Variant). New user, my positive and criticism remarks.
I have been very happy user of my speedy Note 3 for 3 years, my wife upgraded phone and so I inherited an opportunity to take over her old SM-N915FY which is Note Edge.
I always liked SM-N915FY, the dual edge screen concept and it felt exclusive device as the phone is not for everyone and sort of a rare item you don't see every day. My wife had this phone for a year and I decided to try it out before I abandon my beloved Note 3. It's being 3 days since using it and it's is running MM 6.0.1. My overall impression of the phone design is good, I like phone's look and size for what it is. I do have some disappointing remarks on its inconsistent and often laggy UI. Also I find that phone get heated up easily. I won't talk about the actual MM OS as its not fair on the phone, so my comments are model specific.
So i listed below my thoughts, criticism and experience, I would very like to know your user opinion especially round my comments?
I should mention that my phone was factory reset after MM update and then rooted.
Positive
- Samsung still update the phone
- Fingerprint scanner
- Love the stylus
- Great display screen and resolution
- Phone is slim
- Nice concept maybe the only dual screen edge there will be
- Love the front of the phone screen, the white bezel has settle cross pattern making it look more interesting
- Good camera
- Love how edge screen takes over the notifications and app controls
- Love the typing keyboard and how far apart keys are spaced out
- S note and memo looks nice and spacious to write on, thanks to the high resolution display
- Using stylus and writing with the phone on the table is a lot more comfortable, i find my hand rests a lot easier on the curved edge as with Note 3 it was kind of half on table and half on the screen.
- Love the 'Manage panels' for the edge screen
Criticism:
User Interface (UI): major flaws here in my opinion.
-After update to 6.0.1 the edge screen when inactive shrinks to smaller size then up on interaction it expands to its normal size, this is annoying and often during the transition it lags.
-Edge screen expands and it overlaps into the main screen UI. Terrible design idea.
-Conventional Notifications Bar that slides down has large gaps on left and right side. So it doesn't stretch blue colour to the screen borders. Poor design.
-Disproportionate and inconsistent look. With such a lovely screen and high resolution, problem as per an example: the home screen has really small phone and app drawer icons on the bottom, but comparing that to icons in the drawer and these are much bigger.
-Drawer is poorly optimised, with such high resolution screen whey can't set icons be smaller and arranged in rows of at least 5 icons.
UI lag:
- Swiping between drawer windows often is not jerky and not a smooth effect.
- Edge screen as mentioned above often during the transition lags.
- Pulling down notifications can be laggy
- Phone often lags in the transition between unlocking screen and showing home screen.
Performances
- Generally the phone feels under powered as per UI lag remarks.
- Phone tends to heat up often
- Had phone on e crashing and rebooting once in 3 days and asking for backup password for the fingerprint scanner.
Touch screen
- Hard to explain but I notice that it sometimes fails to register my swipes especially the one from top of the screen to expand notification bar. Sometimes I can swipe 2 to 3 and it won't register my swipe.
- I also had the above problem swiping other areas of the screen but I wonder if it's to do with phone taking time to wake up after screen on command.
Other
- The back of the phone comparing to Note 3's faux leather effect feels plastic and cheap.

So am I correct that there are physically no custom ROMS for the 2016 Snapdragon S2?
I have root, so that is good. But I looked around and I don't see any custom ROM's at all. No dev development, no interest or is it because it is a newer device?

REDMI NOTE 3 Pro [Snapdragon] Tip to unlock bootloader Safely
Considering the struggle i had unlocking the bootloader officially (not wanting to take the risk of Bricked device)
And reading all the available guides and tips around various forums on Google, this includes mi community, mi forum, mi india forum, xiaomi eu, XDA and various other sites.
i finally figured out the easiest way based on my own research and success i got.
Its safest and easiest method but require patience.
Prerequisites.
*Working and stable internet (phone and Computer)
*Mi Suite (for correct Drivers)
*Mi Account with complete details (Name, phone number and Synced)
*Mi Unlock Tool
*Same sim card on phone as on the Account
*Same Account that got the permission to unlock.
*Find phone feature turned on
*MI Account synced with Mi servers.
*Global Developer Rom installed
*Mi official USB cable (same that came with in the Box)
*Patience
Steps
1. Apply for the unlock permission.(i got mine approved in 2 days)
2. Connect your phone in normal mode to computer and sync it on the computer.
3. Open your browser and log on to MI cloud.
4. Connect to the Mi account on the browser.
5. Now enable Developer option on the phone.
6. Remove all the security features like fingerprint, pattern, pin or anything that that you have to secure your device.
7. Enable USB Debugging, OEM unlock and "Skip Screenlock" (this you will find just above USB debugging)
8. Log in to MI unlock tool and sign in with the same account as on the phone.(The account should have permission to unlock)
9. Connect you phone on Fastboot mode (Volume down+Power)
10. When the phone is detected in the unlock tool hit unlock. (process might fail with the same error "Could not verify the device or the account is different on device")
11. Retry without disconnecting the device. (Mine got unlocked in the 2nd straight attempt using these steps.)
Note: Try to unlock the device as soon as you get the permission. You will fail but try every day once, you will succeed in a weeks time.
I got my permission the 3rd day from the day of applying and i have been trying every day. I finally succeeded on the 7th day.
I hope this guide helps most of the people stuck with locked bootloader.

Snapdragon 625 more powerful than 652?
So yeah, I realize the 652 has a more powerful GPU, but in terms of CPU, it looks to be more powerful and nearly on par with the 820, even though I merely grabbed a random result for the 625 while I picked the 652's best score.
