Installing "boot.img" through ADB (CMD) vs Flashtool

Hi, i'm getting a confusion regarding installing "boot.img" on our Xperia M4. Does anyone know if installing "boot.img" through ADB wil be the same as installing "boot.img" through flashtool.. if no, can someone explain the process of ADB in the comments.. thank you..

I didn't get the chance to encounter installing thorugh ADB because my last rooted phone (live with walkman) doesn't need ADB to install kernel and custom rom.. I just used flashtool to flash kernel (boot.img) ..

i really appreciate any comments and help you'll gonna give..

Can't Downgrade from LOLLIPOP 5.0.2 using flashtool. please help

I had bricked my lg g2 which was running 4.4.2. i successfully got flashtool to reflash 4.2.2 and everything was working great. I was trying to go to 5.0 to play pokemon with root. So i updated the software OTA. When i got to the 5.0.2. the updated errored out when it was rebooting. Now I cant get and google services to work. i want to go back to kit kat now but the flashtool will not let me. every time i start it asks me if i want to cancel or retry. when i hit retry it doesnt work. And when i used to hit cancel it would start working anyway but it no longer works when i hit cancel either.

any help would be appreciated.

Flashing Tutorial using Flashtool on Xperia m5?

Can anyone upload a video showing tutorial using flashtool to flash or update firmware? Or tell the proper steps? I heard we have to FSC when flashing or it hard bricks the device. When it asks for FSC? Since there is no sony service center here, i am afraid of hard bricking the device :(

[Flashtool] How to flash the Sony Xperia Z5 Compact with stock ROM [Flashtool]

Over the past couple of days, I have been experiencing various issues with flashtool. Using the internets help and many hours of my time I managed to fix most of these problems that occurred for me. Although there are hundreds of Flashtool step by step instructions, I thought it would be best for an updated and more in depth on what you should be aware of first before clicking "Flash".

Firstly, I do not take responsibility for any device broken or damaged since there is ALWAYS a minute chance of your device bricking.

Lets start, shall we?

Things Needed

Okay to start off.. Yes, this should work with other phones however I am not providing the stock roms for those, it takes a simple google search to find them ie. "Sony Xperia Z5 Stock Rom ftf"

You don't need the latest stock rom either since you can update once the phone is setup depending on if you have access to OTA updates (Over the Air).

Step 1.

Download flashtool if you haven't already. If you have an older version of flashtool, uninstall it and make sure all old files are gone for good and also be sure the new one is fully installed. I prefer to use the magnet link on the website (for torrents) since using uploaded.net takes forever.

Step 2a.

If you're on Windows 8/8.1 then please take note to this specific paragraph, any other OS skip to 2b Windows 8/8.1 like to have its security tight, so they block you from installing drivers with unsigned certificates to "keep your computer from harm" but just go ahead and follow the instructions to allow your computer install these drivers. If the drivers aren't installed correctly, then you won't be flashing anything today :p Okay, go to Settings>General and then click on 'Restart Now' under 'Advanced Startup'.

This will restart your PC. It will then take you to a screen that gives you various options. On Windows 8 you will see 'Troubleshoot' and on Windows 8.1 you will see 'Start-up Settings'. Select either that appears. This will take you to another page that will ask to restart windows in order to use some advanced startup features, just click 'Restart'. If it already takes you to the page without restart, or if your computer just restarted and you're getting the options of what to select, make sure you select 'Disable driver signature enforcement'.

Your computer should now restart with driver signature enforcement disabled. Now, go ahead and carry on with the instructions in 2b!

Step 2b.

Navigate to the 'drivers' folder where you installed Flashtool. If you cant remember where you installed it, the default directory should be in "C:\Flashtool". Open 'Flashtool-drivers.exe' and install:
  • Flashmode Drivers

  • Fastboot Drivers

  • Z5 Compact Device Driver (Or whatever your device is)

Now we have successfully installed the drivers for flashtool and our device! :D

Step 3.

Find the stock rom you downloaded, copy and paste it into your firmwares folder in flashtool. For me, this is in "C:\Users\Matty\.flashTool\firmwares". People have been saying to delete the folders inside the firmwares folder, do not do this as the flash might not work.

Step 4.
Note
If you're running 64bit, I recommend you to not use Flashtool64.exe at first, just use the standard 'Flashtool.exe'. If you dont get an icon on your desktop from the setup, just navigate to the folder in the directory you installed it in, then right click and click send to desktop so you can access it easy :)

Step 5.

Open Flashtool from your newly created shortcut on your desktop. Click the Flash icon, then click Flashmode, then hit Ok. Click your Firmware on the left to start off with. You might have to hit the firmware dropdown until it gets to the actual firmware like so:

If you want to remove all your data, where it says Wipe, hit all the boxes. (APPS_LOG, DIAG, SSD, USERDATA). Then click Flash. You will now see "Preparing files for flashing" on your screen. Be very patient, and in the meantime, turn your phone off ready to enter Flashmode. Make sure your phone is switched off and NOT plugged.

When you see this box come up on your computer, It's probably time to connect the USB to your computer, and enter flashmode on your phone.

Plug the USB into your computer
(TRY USB 2.0 FIRST, SOME REASON NO USB 3.0 PORT WORKED FOR ME+MANY OTHER PEOPLE HAD PROBLEMS WITH USB 3.0 I.E loader.sin errors)

Entering Flash Mode

Hold the Volume Down button and plug the USB cable from your computer into your phone. You should hear the Windows noise it makes to say the device is connected to the PC. If any extra drivers are needed to complete the flash it could take longer for the flash to start. You should then see a constant green light in the top right of your device, gently put it somewhere without unplugging the charger and let Flashtool do the hard work :)

Step 6.

Leave the device for no longer than 30 minutes. However, if you're unsure be safe and leave it for a full hour, go out have a nice brew, do a tap and dance and come back and it should be done. The only reason it would get stuck is because you unplugged the phone during the Flash, or if the cable somewhat died throughout the operation. If so, repeat the instructions in hope your device will be as good as new :)

Flashtool will now let you know when it is done. It will say "Flashing finished, please uplug and start your phone."

If it says that, hooray! You have successfully flashed your phone with stock rom!

If not and you get an error before it even wants to flash, or throughout the process you get an error, post it below and I'll take a look. I'm not very good but I know quite a few errors.

END OF TUTORIAL :)

I just thought I'd help the community out in a way that I can, since I'm bad at like everything else lol.

Peace folks :highfive: :cyclops:

Flashtool stuck

Howdy :cowboy:

I have a Z5 Compact, and I'm trying to flash a stock rom using flashtool. Unfortunately, I'm getting a message saying "Reading device information" and it just stays there, and nothing else happens.

All drivers installed correctly from most recent flashtool. ADB drivers are installed too. I literally cant think of anything else? Phone in flash mode correctly, I select wipe: SSD, APPS_LOG, DIAG, USERDATA and click flash and get absolutely nothing after Reading device information.

LG Flashtool Download Failed

When I try to use the TOT for ZVB to flash my device, device won't turn on (just sits at the main LG screen) so this is my only attempt at saving it, I got the TOT and DLL from the ZVB thread but I keep getting a "Download Failed" at the 9% mark. I did some research and it appears to be the DLL but can't seem to find a different DLL.

Lg G3 stuck on LG logo after Android 6. Cant use FlashTool

Hi,
So someone gave me a LG G3 which he updated to "D85530C_00_0211.kdz". After that the phone stuck in the LG logo and it rarely loads the phone but it freezes. I can barely unlock the phone sometimes but usually it doesn't recognise the touch.
Neither the PC is recognising the phone.
I tried to use LGFlashTool with TOT file but after "READY" when I unplug and plug again it says "Download Fail".
I also tried with the older LGFlashTool using the KDZ but still didn't work. It only worked with the KDZ above, which is the same software and again it is freezing.
LGUP isn't working too.
Any help/suggestions?

P.S.
Maybe I'm using wrong TOT/KDZ?
-The version he updated and also I was able to install is D855
-Under the battery writes "Made in Korea" which may be a Korean phone but Korea doesn't have D855
-I searched on imei.info the IMEI number and it says Carrier Poland.
-I tried using Poland KDZ, Hong-Kong TOT (because they have d855) and Europe TOT(which also has d855)
-The phone is 16GB

LG FlashTool Error, can not boot D850

Hi, Guys

I went the following operation.

1) I was trying to root on D850.
It was success.
2) I was trying to install TWRP3.0 from TWRP manager.
But it failed. Then I could not install the TWRP2.8.
3) I have tried a factory reset from LGFlashTool.exe
I can not be factory reset.
Error occurs.

I have followed all the guides in creating the FTF file to flash, tried various versions of flashtool from new to old and all have similar results. I must be doing something wrong but i cant figure it out. Can someone point me in the right direction please!!!

[Flashtool] ERROR - Error flashing. Aborted - Xperia X10 mini pro problems

Hi all,

I made a mistake and selected wrong file on SD Card in xRecovery menu and installed wrong ROM on my Xperia x10 mini pro.
I actually installed ROM for Xperia x10 mini.

After this operation buttons did not work, same with touch screen - no response at all.

Then I thought it was always possible to reload stock software using SEUS/ PC Companion/ Xperia Companion. But wrong - it does not work, Xperia Companion gives an error "Błąd podczas naprawy oprogramowania
Podczas naprawiania urządzenia wystąpił błąd.
SprĂłbuj ponownie. Jeśli problem będzie nadal występował, skontaktuj się z działem pomocy technicznej firmy Sony.
Kod błędu: UEGetPhoneInfoMissingInfo
E10i 0124 1236-0516 R5B 2.1.1.A.0.6"

This means that there was an error, gives an error code and suggesting to contact Sony if problem still exists.

That means trouble. I decide to use Flashtool. I never did it before but what can I loose, right?

I found a stock ROM and tried to flash the phone. But Flashtool gives an error as well:

Can someone please tell me what that means? How can I check Unknown Sources and Debugging if I can not turn on the phone?
Is it really necesary? I read somewhere that Flashtool does not need it. Now I am confused...

Can anything be done to solve this issue and get my Xperia work again?

SP Flashtool Error: "s_da_sdmmc_write failed (3149)"

Hello, I have china phone(Kubao A600). It is bricked and I am trying to flash a rom to it on SP Flashtool. I found its rom here "needrom.com/download/kubao-a600-mt6572/". Now I am doing everything as mentioned in every tutorial. But I am getting this error "s_da_sdmmc_write failed (3149)" whenever I try to download or do an emmc test. I have searched everywhere for a solution and there are many but none of them works. I read somewhere that its solution is different depending on the cause of the problem. Furthermore I have tried every version of SP Flashtool all with same error but with V3.1320 I can format it ok (format except bootloader option) but with all the others i get "S_DA_INVALID_RANGE (3036)" .One more thing I think is worth mentioning with V3.1320 it says unknown emmc device in the status bar but with the new versions it recognizes it. Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks.

Flashtool can't detect busybox

Well, strange things are happening to my phone...After I managed to get root access, according to Root Checker,I connected my Z5 to the PC but Flashtool doesn't detect Busybox and displays ''Root access denied'' message. Also in Service menu the DRM keys seems intact and the Rooting status is:Bootloader unlock allowed:Yes.

Any idea what is happening?
