Is there a way to manually select 4K?

As it says in the title, or is there a way to make certain apps to run in 4k? For example running MXPlayer in 4K.

Backing up/ restoring /Data partition manually

Hello everyone!
I would like to know if it was possible to backup and restore /data without a custom recovery, like, manually
1-Copy pasting /data to an SD card or PC
2-Reset my phone
3-Copy pasting /data
I know these three steps only didn't work for a friend of mine who tried it, so.. could these help?
4-Using terminal emulator to mount data?
4-Giving higher permission to the folder with root browser?
I'm just wondering, as I personnally would use TWRP for it but the friend that tried was rooted but did not have custom recovery at that time.
I would have done it with Titanium backup but well... he tried another method :D
This is all just out of curiosity, as this friend is now back running with his phone normally, as this happened a few months ago, but this question never got out of my brain so I decided to ask here.
Sorry for the long life story, It was just to set up why I got to this question :D
Have a good day.

Shield won't connect to network storage, won't auto mount or manually connect

I have an Archer C7 wireless router with a USB hard drive connected to it that contains all my media. I have two linux boxes and two Windows machines that can see the share (\192.168.xxx.xxx\volume1), but the nVidia Shield TV won't see it automatically OR let me enter the address manually. KODI and SPMC both surf to and find the share and media folders therein without problem, but the Shield will not natively see it.

When I try to enter it manually, it says "CONNECTION FAILED - null is not available". I don't know what it says by null except that it can't tell anything is there at all.

The only thing I can think of is that, in Linux, I have to use "sec=ntlm" to change the dedault security in the cifs/samba command in file /etc/fstab to get it to mount, but I can't set something like that in the Shield. Even if I remove authentication altogether, the Shield still doesn't recognize the share or even the 192.168.xxx.xxx address at all. They're on the same network. I should also mention that I can connect to the share from my Android phone, so I don't think it's something with the OS. Maybe...
At this point, I'm at a total loss to get this share connected to the SHIELD.

Any ideas?

Put an end to manually forwarding your calls!

For those of you who have a 3G version of the Gear S2 and don't want to fuss with manually call forwarding anymore, allow me to recommend an option many seem to have forgotten over the last couple of years: Google Voice

I've been using GV for years as the VM on my phone. Now, I have added the Gear S2 3G as another phone on my GV account. This gives two great benefits:

1. Calls automatically forward from phone-to-watch OR watch-to-phone if I don't answer on the originally called device, eliminating the need to enable and disable call forwarding phone-to-watch manually and giving a two-way solution if I leave the watch at home for a change.

2. Gives one unified voicemail box for both my phone and watch numbers. While only a few important people have my watch number for emergency purposes, I don't want people to have to remember multiple numbers to call or worry they are leaving a VM in the "box I rarely check."

To forward the watch's calls, just follow Google Voice's instructions with the manual call forwarding dial codes for your carrier (T-Mobile USA is **004*1<10digitGVnumber>#, for example) and dial them on your watch AFTER you set the number up in your GV account. And, of course, this is only going to work for those who live in a country GV services (US & Canada, I believe). If you are outside the US & Canada, I'm sorry that I have no similar alternative to offer you.

Location Reporting option missing - can it be turned off manually?

Hi. I hope I am posting this in the right place. So I have an LG Nexus 4 which has Kitkat 4.4.* and an updated google service apparently. The location reporting option is no longer available, only the history one. Now my problem is that I accidentally agreed to let google report location data in exchange for higher location accuracy. However I cannot revert this agreement anywhere. Each time I turn off/on the Location service, it resets to the highest accuracy, thus also reporting the location. It doesn't use my last setting as default. Is there a way to force default (device only) setting on it somehow? Or revert this option back to "always ask" or something? I can't find almost anything about this on the web. I'm afraid that it sets this into the google account itself, so my only option could be forcing the phone to default to the desired one. Is it even possible?:/

Any help is appreciated!

Flashing Firmware Update Manually Via Odin Question?

Hey guys, Thought I'd ask here, I have a G935F rooted on stock ROM. However am noticing the usual high android system drain. I'm on APD1 firmware which is apparently an April release here in NZ. I'm wondering.. Does any one or is it worth manually flashing via Odin the most up to date firmware to see if it helps? I've looked on samfirm and there isn't a newer release for NZ but plenty more newer firmwares! On some forums people are saying they are getting better battery life etc with other firmwares. What are your thoughts?

I used to be an avid custom flasher but I haven't seen any major ROMs that tickle my fancy (thus still on stock!)

Thanks and appreciate your time.

Lock screen not turning off unless I do it manually !!!!1

hello
i have note 4 n910c with 6.0.1

My screen doesn't automatically time out if I press the home button or the power button to turn on my screen. In order for the screen to turn off, I have to manually press the power button. Otherwise, the screen just stays on and drains my battery !!!!!
I should also note that if I receive notifications, my screen lights up and I have to either dismiss the notification or manually turn off the screen.

i downgraded to 5.1.1 it worked for few days then the same issue again

i formatted my device and flashed most recent stock rom 6.0.1 again few days and the same problem screen not turn off automatically

any solutions?
