HBOOT - which version to use

Would somebody please advise me about the pro's and cons of changing my HBOOT version.
I can successfully root my phone via The Revolutionary method after downgrading using an earlier RUU etc.
What I am not clear about is whether I then need to flash an ENG HBOOT after this process .... which version.... why I should do this ?
If I have the "wrong" HBOOT installed will that prevent certain ROMs from running correctly ?
Do I need a specific "level" of HBOOT for a GB based ROM to run and another for an ICS based ROM

No fastboot no recovery no custom recovery only hboot mode

My brother updated his phone via official updates while he was rooted ..... And later on idk what he did and just typed some commands in cmd and now not even able to boot into fastboot nor recovery only option with
1. Recovery
2. Fastboot
3. Normal
These are the only options available whatever i select it just boots into screen where it says
"HTC powered by android "
Plz help idk much abt htc devices
Pls pls pls help xda is only solution i thought

1st of all i want to unlock bootloader, i tried, all thing done successful but after restart still locked.
can anybody help me to unlock it's bootloader?

Stuck in HBOOT

i have HTC one x+ international versions [enrc2b]

first i tried to install a new android version on my phone lolipop 5.1 with cm 12.1
after i did all the steps i could find on google i was stuck in the cyanogenmod logo when i power on the mobile.
after hours of waiting and few more tries with other versions of roms i accidently deleted my system data in the recovery advancement mode
and here i am now stuck in the HBOOT and FASTBOOT and nothing works. cant powder down my phone cant run recovery and cant factory reset
what should i do now? i am new to all of this could someone tell me step by step how to fix this?
i tried all of the methods i understood on google.
all i know that my phone was rooted 2 years ago.

[Q] Relocked bootloader while using custom software, hboot won't detect power button

So, here's the thing, I already posted on a thread but it seems it's actually full of people asking and the guys answering there are stumped with our problems so I came here.

My bootloader is locked because I (stupidly :() relocked it while trying to install a newer firmware via RUU so then it just locked me out and couldn't do anything until I installed the RUU update of the same version I was running.
It's working but not as intended.
I tried unlocking the bootloader again after installing the RUU but no luck, the token works but it just won't detect my power button when I try to accept but the button works perfectly while running the system.

VZN HTC M7 Hboot update

Hello faithful followers of the m7! I have a question that I cannot research a definitive "yes" to and locate the "How-To" to proceed with updating. Is it possible to update Hboot 1.57.0000 to the latest Hboot 1.61.0000 without losing S-OFF? Bootloader reads as follows:

I'm currently "stuck" on ViperOne 7.0.2 KK 4.4.4 and would like to go to ViperOne Lollipop version. Personal preference. CM 12.1 ran ok with eLite kernel. But, I prefer to use EX kernel since I purchased the app as well.

Problem with S-OFF on HBoot 1.54

Hello to everyone!

Iam in big trouble with my htc m7 and I want some to help me here! I know that everything is possible..
The real problem is that when I install CM12.1 rom after a while the phone restart it self and then I loose my IMEI, Baseband version etc. and doesn't work with SIM card.. Yes, all of that information has removed after some time. WHY ?
So I think that I need to get S-OFF to fix this problem or maybe someone will give me better solution ???
The phone has Unlocked bootloader.

I try any method and also with "rumrunner_HTC_0.5.0" to get S-OFF on CM 12.1 installed rom, but gives me error... I try with Guru reset- nope. I try some RUU-nope.
Is there any idea to fix my phone back to stock ?
Also, you can look that my CID is from google, but that is no original because the phone was S-OFF before and someone has mess with trying to install some radio and somehow they loose S-OFF and now has changed CID etc...

But, like I said, If I did not have any problems with loosing my IMEI, Baseband version, then I would be happy!
