Removing system apps like WhatsApp?

Hey there

How do I completely remove system-bound apps like WhatsApp and Instagram? The only option I am given is to "turn off" the application.

I tried using Titanium Backup but it ended up doing more harm than good so I just updated (redownloaded) the apps from the Google PlayStore until someone can help me achieve that. Would removing the actual .com file from the root directory work? I remember doing that on my HTC to safely remove system apps. If so, where is the folder containing them located?

Thank you for your time.

Removing Emergency Alerts

Has anybody had any luck removing Emergency Alerts? I have a notification from this application that will not go away, no matter what I do. I have tried clearing cache, force stop, unchecking everything in the app itself.....nothing will get this orange notification to go away. I am afraid that if I uninstall it with TB that it will cause other issues.

[Question] Removing TWRP - Sony Xperia Z3

Hi friends,

So the situation is that I want to update my Sony Xperia Z3 from v5.0.2 to the latest version of Android, my phone is rooted via KingRoot, and I can't seem to get the latest update because everytime I do, TWRP always shows up when my phone is rebooting. I do not know how to remove TWRP, will I have to unroot my phone and then update to the latest version? Or is there a way to remove TWRP?

I appreciate you guys to help me out on this one :)

Thanks!

Device information:
Sony Xperia Z3 D6653 (Build number: 23.1.A.1.28)

Removing Amazon Ads

Question. I was successfully able to remove the amazon ads and bloatware following the guide here on xda on my moto g4. Along with the moto g4 is a phone called the blu r1 hd that also has the amazon ads and was released at the same time as the moto g4.

I tried this, which removes ads from the kindle lockscreen http://forum.xda-developers.com/amaz...-root-t3218946 but even though it did say it successfully hid com.amazon.kindle.kso, it didn't have any effect, the ads are still there.

Can it be done using the same method as the moto g4? I didn't want to try as I figured it was specific to the moto g4 and I wouldn't want to brick my phone trying to flash incompatible software.

Does anyone know of a way to remove the ads (and amazon bloatware if possible, but at least the ads would be nice) from the blu r1 hd lockscreen?

Forgive me for posting this in the moto g4 section. I searched on xda and couldn't find a specific device forum for the blu r1 hd, I figured this would be the next best place to ask.

Thanks!

Black screen on boot after removing KingRoot

Hello all,

A few months ago I rooted my phone using KingRoot, because it was the only thing that I could get working. However, they added some lock screen with ads which kept on messing up after I plugged my charger in. I used Super Sume pro to remove KingRoot and it required me to reboot, but now my screen only turns black after the startup animation.
Also I can't get into recovery mode for some reason.

Custom Ringtones/Notifications Not Working/Playing After Removing Stock Tones

Whenever I setup a new ROM, I like to go in and remove all the stock ringtones, notifications, alarms, and UI sounds, for I know I'll never use them ever.
This, I've done for every Android device I've had up to the Nexus 6.

HOWEVER.......

Things are different on the 6.

Not sure if it's Marshmallow's doing (it might be that-- never had the problem on every other Android iteration pre-MM).

Whenever I delete all the stock sounds, I cannot use my custom sounds-- or, only very few of them would work (notifications).
This happens on every MM ROM I install.

I don't know if anyone else does this, too, but if you do, is there a workaround besides keeping all the stock sounds?

Thanks for any help offered.
