Better Battery Life on Marshmallow (Disable Logd)

So after upgrading to MM, I noticed that a process called "logd" was always in the top few apps of battery hogs in GSAM Battery Monitor. Instructions on the Internet on how to fix this all don't apply to the Verizon G4, so I am sharing here how to do it in case someone else runs into it.

So first of all confirm you have the problem. When you open a terminal and run 'top -m 5', if you see a process called logd spiking up to 16% frequently every few seconds then you know you have the problem as well.

Now in order to address the issue,

1. Type ##228378 in the dialer and press call. It should bring up the hidden menu

2. Select "Log Enable"

3. Select "Disable"

4. Reboot the phone

Now the battery hogging of logd should be history. You can use the terminal method above to confirm, the frequent spikes to 16% CPU should be gone.
