Verizon S7 Edge (SM-G935V) on AT&T with LTE tip

Hi all, just giving a quick 2 cents after my recent experience attempting to activate a Verizon S7 Edge on AT&T.

*Following a data reset you will need wifi for initial setup if you are using an AT&T sim card.

After following the guide in AT&T's web site for APN settings I was not able to get any data or mms service (this is using the NXTGENPHONE APN), so I did some experimenting. The following APN settings worked for HSPA+ data and mms, but NO LTE and NO MMS if connected to WIFI:

Name: ATT
APN: phone
Proxy: not set
Port: not set
Username: not set
Password: not set
Server: not set
MMSC: http://mmsc.mobile.att.net
Multimedia message proxy: proxy.mobile.att.net
Multimedia message port: 80
MCC: 310
MNC: 410
Authentication type: not set
APN type: default,mms,supl,hipri
APN Protocol: IPv4/IPv6
APN roaming protocol: IPv4/IPv6
Bearer: unspecified
Mobile virtual network operator type: none
Mobile virtual network operator value: not set

So at this point I had NO LTE service and NO MMS IF connected to wifi. Utilizing the LTE Discovery app from the play store I could see that LTE was "not available" but on my wife's S7 she was getting LTE on Band 4. To make a long story short I got online to an AT&T chat rep who told me that HSPA+ and LTE are the exact same and they just show up different on different phones... THIS IS NOT CORRECT!

I educated the dumba$$ rep that HSPA+ and LTE are not the same, and asked to speak to a tech support SPECIALIST. After a short wait for transfer the final solution that worked was to have the specialist change the IMEI on file for my phone number to an AT&T branded Note 5 (I had an old one on the account and just used that). I then restarted the phone and had to wait about 10 minutes for the HSPA+ to change to 4GLTE signal. MMS now works when connected to wifi as well! Please note that this was achieved using the above mentioned APN settings- using AT&T's guide for NXTGENPHONE still results in NO data or MMS.

So the bottom line when transferring a Verizon S7 Edge to AT&T:
1. Use the above APN settings
2. Call AT&T and change your phone number's IMEI in their system to an LTE capable AT&T branded device (in my case note 5 worked)
3. Reboot and wait about 10 minutes for the signal to register

**DON'T let a representative tell you that HSPA+ and LTE are the same thing.. we're talking 8 Mbps vs 50+ Mbps download and 2 Mbps vs 20+ Mbps upload!

Cheers

***Admin I accidentally posted this in the ROM section; can it be moved to discussion/guides? thanks

S7 Edge SM-G935V (Verizon SD) - Two Issues: Pink Screen & MMS Issues

Issues 1) When I have auto-brightness on, my screen turns pink but ONLY in direct sunlight. Switch off auto-brightness and it immediately goes away. Anyone else have this issue? Not a big one, but just curious.
Issue 2) MMS only works when I have wifi OFF. I use Textra and have tried going back to Messages+ with no avail. Anyone know a fix for this? My APN is all set up correctly and I've tried all variations.

Let me know if anyone is experiencing these issues!

Verizon S7 / S7 Edge [Root Guide] SM-G930V SM-G935V [NO KNOX TRIP]

Hi, I am compiling this guide for rooting the verizon variant. I also hope to fill in some gaps in the other guides.
I AM NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR ANY PROBLEMS YOU MAY CAUSE OR ENCOUNTER
I did not develop this, I'm only telling you how to do it.
Verizon S7 / S7 Edge [Root Guide] SM-G930V SM-G935V

This worked for me on the June Security patch!

Needed tools:
  1. Odin(You must use this exact one)

  2. SM-G930 ENG BOOT Or

  3. SM-G935 ENG BOOT

  4. SUPER SU (Note Use this one, Play store varient may cause issues)

**THIS WILL NOT FACTORY RESET THE PHONE... BUT BACKUP JUST INCASE**

Flashing the ENG BOOT:
  1. Open Odin

  2. Put S7 in Download Mode(shut of phone then; hold: power, home, volume down; Then press volume up to enter downlod mode)

  3. In Odin click the AP button and select the TAR: SM-G930 ENG BOOT Or SM-G935 ENG BOOT

  4. check the AP check box

  5. Flash the AP TAR

**THIS TOOK ONLY 5 SECONDS TO FLASH FOR ME THEN IT REBOOTED**

INSTALLING ROOT ACCESS:
  1. Unzip the SuperSU zip file into a folder(For me C:\rootS7 )

  2. Next download & unzip the tools.zip attached this is just the adb tools(Took me forever to find just these :p )

  3. Move adb.exe and both DLL in tools.zip into your folder... ie C:\rootS7

  4. Enable USB Debugging in developer options on Phone.

  5. Connect phone and double click root.bat in your folder.

  6. Once finished your phone will reboot

Congrats you have ROOT!!!

Troubleshooting:
Wifi Password lost on reboot:
  1. Open /system/build.prop

  2. Change ro.securestorage.support to false

  3. reboot

Odin won't Flash right:
  1. Check that you are in download mode

  2. If you are Factory reset then try again.

Phone is running hot:

I have not found an official solution: But you can try coolify or cpuset
