Upgrade from 12b root.

Ok I'm not sure if this is the proper forum, but excuse my ignorance if it is_went thru a process of going from 6.0 to downgrade to 10b,i rooted then flashed to 12b,so I'm rooted on 12b,i froze the system upgrade to 23b,my question is if I unfreeze system Ota, then Ota to 23b,will I lose root, will it even take the Ota?, and if it goes thru(ota), can I root at 23b,or is there a way to get to 23b or higher without losing root. As it has been a challenge for me, with many many mistakes, and for that I have given thanks to those that helped me. Basically I'm looking to upgrade with the least chance of mistakes..
