Wierd Fiio E18 issue (paired with Xperia Z5)

Hi all

Got a fully functional fiio e18 tested with both a z3 and g3, but with my new z5 it seems to not work (in dac/amp mode) at all unless you plug it in and then restart the phone (which restarts in safe mode). If this isnt done audio just comes out of the speakers, any ideas?

(Stock fully updated Z5 non rooted, on the other phones you just plug and play at any time)
