Why carnt i enter monitor mode in linux deploy

Im running samsung s6 5.1.1 lollipop and i carnt enter monitor mode on linux deploy using kail linux i put

"ifconfig wlan0 mode monitor"

And i get

"Ifconfig wlan0 mode monitor : host unknown"
