Help!! The screen wont turn on.

I have a Samsung Galaxy S2 I9100. I recently dropped it and after that the screen is not turning on anymore. But everything else works fine. I can hear incoming calls and even can turn the phone on and off. But nothing is coming up on the display. Also I don't know how the touch seems to work as well. I can hear the sounds when I slide to unlock the phone and when I accidentally opens the keyboard, I can hear the typing. But unfortunately nothing is coming up on the screen. It looks as if the phone is off.
I have never rooted the phone. It is in the condition as it came out from the box. No tinkering at all.
Also one more thing, I thought to show it to a local mobile repair shop. the technician there told me that the screen is broken and it needs to be replaced which would cost me around Rs. 2500/- (~ ).

Please Help. What should I do. If I have to change the screen then what will be the best place to buy one and for how much. A specific link for that would be much appreciated.
