Essential apps/services closing when close button is used

I'm running on Resurrection Remix based on CM13 where you can configure the Navbar with extra buttons including a close (×) button that very much closes the app on the foreground. However, i found that with this single action, a multiple of other apps running in the background with essential services are also being force-closed. And that includes Kaspersky Internet Security and a firewall (NoRoot or WebGuard, both exit). The icons representing the apps disappear the very next moment from the status bar after tapping the close button. To confirm, I cross checked the running services. However, a couple of other apps run regardless, like the Internet Speed Meter, BBC News, Google Now etc.

Now, i know that a simple solution to this problem is to operate and use sans the close button, but I'm really hoping that there's a workaround on it, counting on the fact that some apps persist and some doesn't.

Can someone please suggest a solution. Any help is appreciated. Thanks.

Additional info:
I tried prioritising the apps using Memory Locker. Even converting KIS to be a system app. None of the methods worked. I can provide more information if i missed any. Googled for all possible solutions I could find, in vain.

PS: I'm unable to attach the screenshot; says network failure on both data and wifi ::confused:
