I've built the ElementalX kernel for my G4 Plus, it should also work on the regular G4. I need some testers.
The installer only modifies the boot.img, it doesn't touch your system partition. So you can backup your boot.img before flashing and easily restore it if something doesn't work.
I'm curious about WiFi working. Let me know how it goes.
