Bootloop still a problem?

I was looking into buying a new phone, something with an unlockable bootloader and semi easy to root. I came across the G4 and it looked pretty promising. I was most likely going to buy it then I found this issue with the bootloops. It seems like a fairly common problem with the early models of the phone. I was wondering if I were to purchase a G4 now if it would still have the same problem or it has since been fixed. I couldn't find any recently updated threads on the issue so I thought I'd come over to xda.
